TommyF lets face it, 99 times out of 100 that Kebe shot would have been on target for other players, including Blue Square Premier ones!

No it wouldn't.

Woodcote Royal
Sun Tzu He also didn't bring on any youngsters.....

He's clearly undecided !

A team which was a straight 50/50 split between young guns and older players and the one sub a mid range product.

He's hedging his bets.....

:P

Who was the oldest player in that team?

50/50 is just utter nonsense.

Rosenior and Cisse were the only senior players/regular starters from Coppell's era and how old are they?

It was nothing short of a "This is my team and very few of yours will be in it" selection.

Time will tell but even Rosy and Cisse look like they were picked for lack of alternatives (as much as I like Cisse and hope he has a future here) or we've just spent £2m on a defender who is going to sit on the bench.........................clearly a painful day for the Coppellites

derrrr,

joey.

If the side picked itself, don't you find it a little odd that Harper and Marek are fit to play tomorrow night?

no, not even close to being slightly odd.

they are coming back from injury, fit in terms of the niggles have cleared up, not fit in terms of not had much preseason, and therefore perfect for putting in for the cup game vs burton

Neither of them have played enough pre-season games to have been really pushing for the Forest game.

If it had been Coppell picking the side then I think Harper may well have been given the nod, but I do wonder how fit he was to make the bench. He may well have been there just in case of an emergency, or just to make up the numbers now we have 7 spots to fill.

Tonight is like an extra friendly for Rodgers to get the rest of the squad fit and firing on all cylinders.

It doen't diminish the whole 'new young era' thing thats going on, but I wouldn't be quite as bold as to say Rodgers went all out for youth just out of choice.

Actually, I agree with Brendy. It will be interesting to see how they perform tonight.

Makes perfect sense to me - Harper in the holding role, Marek in the advanced position, with Lazarus the link between the two.

but matejovski is just what this rodgers team needs, and he knows it

Forest have appealed.

Royalee- isn't that my title?

I thought Rosenior was better than most are giving credit for. He was the only one of the back six (including Fed and Jem) who was prepared to pass forwards. He played one great ball, and then everything kicked off. He also saved a goal. He provided width, and HRK came inside too much. I had the impression that if we were to score, it would be from his cross.

In general he gives the ball away when he shouldn't, but he's a perfectly adequate full back. The negativity displayed towards him seems harsh, much like players in the past have been picked on even after they played well.

I've just read on the official site that we made 483 passes.

That's FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY THREE passes!

And we only had 2 shots on goal from all those passes.

Apparently Patience is the key word here - shame the duration of matches is only 90 minutes or so

Davies had 2 shots on his own, Church had a header, Cisse and Karacan both had shots at goal, Kebe missed a sitter...you can't count.

How many did we make on average last season?

It sounds a lot but without anything to compare it against I have no idea what it means. My eye's tell me we'll be passing the ball a lot more, and we'll keep it a lot more, than we did under Coppell.

How many did we make per game under Burns?

I think the patience is not only applicable to each game, but to the style in general. Once the squad is comfortable playing this style, and once BR has the players he wants (A forward lite at the moment) - we will see* more conversion of passing to shots, and shots to goals as we begin to make a start on mastering this mentality.

Chill people, solid start - lets see what happens.

*I hope

Correct.

I don't know, though I would be interested to know the answer.

Again, I don't know. But it would certainly be fascinating to know the answer as the Tommy Burns era was famous for passing without getting anywhere.
