He's another player who would utterly dominate the Championship, and has done so in the past.

I'm really surprised so many people are understanding and supportive of Guthrie on this.

I see how he's upset, pissed off and fed up.

However, he is paid to do a job. He's employed by RFC. Whether they want him at every single match just to sit on the bench or not, if they pay him he should do it. Simply not turning up isn't acceptable in my opinion and doesn't help in anyway.

Champ kind apparently since day 1 guthrie's distanced himself from the team. literally turns up at training and shoots off home again never to be seen till match day or the next training session. surely when joining a new team its better to get involved and socialise with the rest of the team but he spends most his time up in newcastle. just doesnt seem to do himself any favours...

Perhaps we should've started a food fight in the canteen at Hogwood so he could feel at home.

Nice idea, but no lobster on the menu here. Just turkey to feed the, er, turkeys we've already got

No Fixed Abode Reading have fined Guthrie 2 weeks wages for refusing to travel to Sunderland.

As reported by SSN tonight.

Just why did the Club think this is in any way going to improve the obvious dischord in the dressing room by releasing this news officially?!

It seems we have completely lost the plot.

I suspect the other players would know if he had been fined, so it makes no difference if announced or not especially as both parties have gone public at different times.

Ideal How nice of the chronicle to allow him a soapbox for him to stand on while he spouts his rubbish about how he's been victimized.

Go on, which nobody should the messiah sign from Scandinavia to save our season?

Hit the nail on the head. No matter how badly Brian is doing we should not be backing Guthrie. Terrible attitude from him.

After the Fulham game I posted that Guthrie had a massive row with McDermott and basically told him that he was a two bit manager in charge of a two bit club. Had we not had such crap results during what should have been our easiest run of the season and Karachan hadn't got injured then Guthrie would have been completely frozen out till January when he would be moved on. Stoke or Wigan were favourites for his signature with"homesickness" being given as the reason for his short stay. Also, like I said before, the Pog will also be gone in January.

The RTG's are out in full voice on this thread aren't they. Jesus Christ!!

"Brian can do no wrong, he's our hero". Please, you lot are utterly pathetic.

McDermott has lost the dressing room, tactically inept & scarily out of his depth at this level. Unfortunately with this 'no bollox' board, we're stuck with him. His terrible signings & his hooooooofball tactics are the reason we are already down.

Guthrie will do well to get himself off this sinking ship ASAP.

Extended-Phenotype 1. Don't think his twitter 'outburst' was anything to get worked up about, why apologise? Really don't see what he said wrong.

"I am bitterly disappointed not to play, I am trying to fit into the direct style of play the manager wants. I pass too much at the moment, which is my biggest asset. I understand what the manager wants but stopping habits like going and getting the ball from the back four is difficult."

2. I'd give up too, if my team had been hit with an injury crisis while on a losing streak created by something I was the antidote for, and I STILL couldn't get in the f/cking team.

Bored. Of. This.

What he said.

Calling BM a twat for failing to change things when we've made mistakes, I.e. not learning?

Speaking to the Post Guthrie said: “I hold my hands up and apologise. It's something that we will deal with internally.

“There's no problem with anyone. I have my reasons for what happened, it shouldn't have happened, but it did. My head just wasn't right.”

Follow Royals reporter Jonny Fordham on Twitter here for all the news as it breaks

Guthrie says his focus is now on facing Arsenal on Monday night at Madejski Stadium.

The 25-year-old is fully fit and has been training for the past two weeks after being sidelined with a thigh injury.

As reported by the Post earlier in the season, Guthrie has also had a falling out with McDermott since his arrival in Berkshire.

But he insists he has no intentions to leave the club, despite playing just six games so far this season.

He added: “I love being at this club - I just want to play football.

“I've never had problems anywhere I have been and I just want to get back to playing football. This is a very rare situation for me.”

N'aww shucks!!
