Extravagant.

If it means we make the play-offs (or heaven forbid, automatic) on the back of a few cheapies, why wouldn't we celebrate that success ?
But no ... we would get the same moaning about how 'we'd have won it by more if we'd spent more ...' BS that we always do.
Each to their own, but I'll wait and see what this brings

winchester_royal I'd say, given that we know both will be on more than competitive championship wages, that it casts pretty significant doubt on all the anti-Anton crap that people have been coming out with over the last few weeks.

Sharps' apparent wages = £18K per week.
Assuming maximum 93 day loan, then total expenditure = £18K * ~ 13 weeks.
= £234K
Assuming Baird is on a similar amount then that's probably another ~ £250K.
Total overall (likely maximum) expenditure ~ £500K
I think even the greatest doubters of Anton's financial capabilities could have envisaged Anton expending £500K over 3 months on a loan signing and a free transfer.
They're decent signings, but it is pretty hard to dress them up as evidence of financial capability winchester_royal.

And you think if Anton was about to pull out of a deal to buy the club we'd be sanctioning these types of wages?
This is £500k that is being spent purely on the ST. We'll get no 'resale' value out of this 500k, it won't add to the value of the club, this is 500k being spent on giving us the best chance of getting promoted.

winchester_royal £500k isn't a lot of money?
Jesus wept. Football's gone mad if people actually believe this to be the case.

Too true. Jesus would indeed weep.
500K is an amount we could afford to spend on a single transfer 10 years ago.
It's definitely not a lot of money in football, whether you want to make a silly comment like that or not.

There's a huge difference between paying 500k for a guy who (you believe at least) will be increasing in value over the next 3 years, and paying 500k over 4 months for players who will be worth nothing to you at the end of those 4 months.
It's like comparing buying a 500k house, and spending 4 months in a rented house paying £125000pcm. Not comparable in the slightest.
500k is a lot of money, whether SSN would let you believe it or not, hence why so many championship clubs have struggled to fund a loan move for Sharp.

In comparison to our annual salaries, it is.
In comparison to parachute payments and money RFC received in player sales. It isn't.
