Stephen Hunt's delivery from set pieces this season has actually been very good indeed. Just about makes up for his consistently mediocre crossing from open play really. Not his biggest fan in the least, but his aggressive style of play is vital to our fast-paced, direct game.

At the moment we need Mr Hunt more than he needs us.

Agreed, and I think his play is improving from year to year. Last season he had an incredible month of December (which led to a new contract). This season he has been even better. Some of the areas he is lacking can be taught, but you can't teach someone to play with the passion and grit that he does. You either have it or you don't.

Joining Wigan is utter madness.

The only reason to join Wigan is money. It is not a glamourous club where you can achieve your footballing ambitions.

But, just like Kaka, I'm sure Hunt would see sense and understand that Reading is his club. This is the club that has backed him, given him his chance, supported him, developed him, made him the player that he is.

Reading is his spiritual home.

For that reason, just like Kaka, he will stay!

Joining Wigan would be a step up.

Have you been to any games this season?! His set pieces were dreadful last season, but this season they've been very good. He rarely puts in a bad cross from a corner now and we are consistently dangerous from both corners and free-kicks thanks to his excellent delivery.

I am a season ticket holder, and I watch away games whenever I can a means of watching them.

I'm not denying that he is perfectly capable of producing quality (and quality is what they are) set pieces, but the problem is he does not do it consistently enough. He still has room for improvement before you can call him a good set piece taker. The way he is playing at the moment, he is anticpating a move away, and subsequently is not performing at an acceptable standard (but this is the case with several of the players, I don't wish to single him out). Hopefully he'll have the sense to work harder when the transfer window shuts and he'll have to earn the attention of the bigger clubs by raising his WHOLE game.

Here stands living proof of the stupidity of some of our supporters.

Hunt clearly has fans and detractors in similar measure but this is the first from either camp I've seen this season criticizing his corner taking

Hunt this season is arguably the best corner taker we've had in the last decade and it's largely thanks to his consistency in this regard, not to mention the pin-point accuracy of free kicks such as the one that Doyle scored from at Brum, that has given him the highest assists in the division.

Skysports.com understands Wigan have made a bid for Reading star Stephen Hunt.

As revealed by skysports.com earlier this month Wigan boss Steve Bruce has earmarked Hunt as one of his top targets in the transfer window.

Bruce has money to spend after selling Wilson Palacios to Tottenham and he has now firmed up his interest in the Republic of Ireland international.

Hunt is believed to have £5million buy-out clause in his contract and Latics boss Bruce is thought to have tabled a bid in that region.

Reading are reluctant to lose the talented winger as they target promotion, but accept they cannot stand in his way if they receive a fee of £5million for his services.

Hunt has never hidden his desire to return to the Premier League and the former Brentford man is expected to hold talks with Wigan over a possible move to the JJB Stadium.

I saw the above article on Sky Sports as well, on one hand no direct quotes are made so seems to be a rehash of an old story.

But its seems that Hunt to Wigan does fit - they need a left winger - been playing R Taylor out of position and they have cash.
