Mills and McD = legends.

I have even more respect for the pair of them now than before. They both care, were disappointed, have shown it, and dealt with the aftermath with humility and sense.

I blame our Brian Saviour for the tea-cup storm. His misguided belief that he could transform a good Championship stopper into Franz Beckenbauer overnight was always going to end in tears. Matt is more Sonko than Socrates and must be coached as such.

Agreed, I was worried after McDermott's comments last night that he was letting the incident just pass by, but he's put his foot down, so credit to him. Same goes for Mills, seems a genuine apology, keep up the good work in defence!

Blue Hooped Moose Not quite time to move on - surely we need to pick a new target to boo next game now? Perhaps we should have a pop at Bertrand - he's had it well cushy since he got here :)

I have a new target for you. The opposition.

Reading fans really are not half as bad as so many, rather patronizingly try to make out. The pure hatred that I have experienced at other clubs, the vitriol and vennom directed towards their own team. Thankfully Reading fans are nothing like that.

I think considering what happened between our 1st season in the Prem and sacking Rodgers, the fans support was unbelieveable and the fans turning up week in week out never turned, when most other clubs would have had their fans ripping up seats.

I'd hate to see how Mills would react to real abuse.

All over now, fair play apologising, he really should have known better though.

Whoa! I know you weren't being serious, I was also making a joke here....

Jeez!

P.S Think about it, it makes a lot of sense. The opposition is always there and there's no need to keep changing targets.... ;)

I was just thinking if Ivar does leave this summer, Mills surely is a good candidate to take over the captaincy?

Not until I've had my say, and I'm still on the fence.

Also, I want to see an aplogy from each and every one of those who demanded an apology.

andrew1957 Having thought about the full support that I gave to Mills last night - I have realised that I am wrong.

I think this club really needs the small minority in the ground that every week shout abuse at our players, moan incessantly and make offensive gestures at them. This small group are the life blood of RFC and we really need their shouting, swearing and ranting to motivate the team.

Matt Mills committed an unforgivable sin by daring to make a gesture back at this minority who have every right to abuse and boo our players each match as they pay good money for the privilege.

Therefore, I propose that at the next home game that Mills should be dragged to the centre circle and summarily executed on the spot to appease this important minority in our midst - who have been so traumatised by his actions that only this severe punishment will suffice.

I await full details of the execution to be posted in the OS.

Oh noooooooo - does the apology mean the execution will have to be postponed.

More proof, if ever it were needed, that the team read this board.

Mills has obviously seen how we all feel and for the sake of unity on the board has decided to apologise, even though he agrees with those who say he shouldn't. Or something.
