Tbf I'm not sure who you're addressing here, unless it's finerain of course - couldn't make any sense of his post, but nobody else suggested he had taken anything.

Oh well, at least we're £300k (plus whatever BWP's wages would have been) better off

Why do we have these threads?

They pop up, are exactly the same every time, the usual suspects on either side

and ultimately nobody gives a oxf*rd and nothing changes.

A bit like the Shane Long and Ian Harte threads then?

1/ A am very pleased we have signed Leigertwood until the end of the season.

2/ The club have clearly done the right thing with W-P. It would be ridiculous to waste money if the player turns out to be a liability.

3/ I have no problem with the Brett Williams deal - as it should be a very low cost gamble.

4/ BUT we still need a fourth experienced striker. Would still like Austin but an end of season loan for Simon Cox would potentially also be good business.

Agreed, the club need to stop being stubbon because we let Cox go for cheap to swindon and just sign him back. Not in WBA's team, could probably get for a cut price than what WBA paid for him. Cox or Austin, very good players with lots of goals, both are young with a high resale value. Stop messing around RFC and clinch one of these OBVIOUS signings.

We received about £750K for Simon Cox. Swindon paid £200K and we received 40% of the 1.5M fee paid by WBA when they signed him.

I would have thought that WBA might well accept £750K for Cox now as they did not even play him in the FA Cup game - despite injuries.

I think a season long loan would be even better though - in case he cannot rediscover goal scoring form.

At least Cox has played at Championship and PL level. It would be a very big step up for say Le Fondre.

17 + 11 appearances 9 goals

This is a fairly good strike rate

PL 2 + 9 appearances no goals

Fairly good but not much better than Church.
