Tommy Youlden's Ears
St. Brynjar
Tommy Youlden's Ears Harry Redknapp, dodgy & odious old git that he is, made me smile with this comment on some of his 'stars';

"I hear that all the time that if they get relegated they want to go because they don't want to play in the Championship," added Redknapp. "But if they f***ing played better they would not be in the Championship so that's a load of cobblers."

I can think of a couple of ours that fit this description.

Please elaborate? I don't think anyone in our squad would think themselves above Championship football, except maybe Pog (who probably should be playing in a far better side than this one) and Pearce who has given the impression that he wants a big fat pay cheque.

OK - so you've named one. And here's a quote you won't hear "I'm looking forward to gutsing it out on a cold february night in Peterborough" says Danny Guthrie. He's not a man with blue and white hooped blood, after all.

He didn't mind so much when Newcastle were relegated a few years ago.

Why would anyone want to lose Cummings, absolutely solid at Championship level and proven his flexibility. Unless he is itching to play first team football we should keep him in the squad for as long as we are in that division

under the tin
Snowball .... and there must be half a doze solid "big men" strikers who could do a job, cost less than 3 M and be on 15-20K a week

You're describing Billy Sharp there.

Apart from the 'big' bit, unless you're describing his waistline?

I would imagine that one of Gunter or Cummings would be subject to a transfer bid from someone in the summer and that either would be allowed leave as I can't see us keeping 3 specialist right backs on the books.

Depends on if Adkins sees Kelly, or even Cummings as a long-term Left Back solution.

Sold to PL/abroad: McCarthy, Mariappa, Guthrie, Pogrebnyak
Sold to Championship sides: Gorkss, Leigertwood
Released: Tabb, Hunt, Church, Pearce, Cummings, Harte, Shorey, Roberts

Team: Federici - Kelly, Morrison,New CB, Gunter - Robson-Kanu gradually replacing McAnuff, Karacan, Caricco, McCleary - Le Fondre, New Big man

Probably spend 2-3 million on replacing the squad, should get decent fees for McCarthy and Mariappa to cover that and the seasons wagebill. Pog and guthrie will be off on the cheap due to wages and not like they cost us much.

Somehow I don't see us letting go of 21 players.

To be honest I wouldn't mind having Gorkss in the Championship, and as he showed with Pearce he can definitely help the younger players.
