Chairman Sir John Madejski said: "These are exciting times for the club and Danny's acquisition is another step forward for us.

Surely you mean 'dangerous times for the club' John, what with splashing out all this cash in such a reckless and unlike 'Reading Way' or is it easy to get excited over doing the right thing now it is someone else's money?!

He never pretended that the club didn't need someone with more money than him to fund its progress. He was quite open that it had to fund itself under him post 2006.

Royal Ginger Are we "doing a QPR"?

arguably the only signing similar to QPR is Drenthe because of his attitude.
This Williams guy seems level headed spoke with Sig and seems passionate about the move.
Bridge we know he dropped a level so he could continue you play.
Pearce is Pearce.

Plus we are not speaninf 100 a week on wages.

If we get a Hooper calibre player for 8m then I would be worried.

Decent post but wouldn't really class him as a 'typical' signing. Hopefully the drop down to the Championship will help him find a bit of form.

St. Brynjar I really hope Struggle Pig catches on as a nickname.

'Battle Pig' is a better, and maybe more apt, translation.

A battle pig was an pig trained and guided by humans for combat. Their main use was to charge the enemy, trampling them and breaking their ranks and instilling terror. A division of battle pigs is known as piggery. They were first employed in the Napoleonic Wars.

Apparently, romans used to coat pigs in oil, charge them at the enemy to scare them and break their lines and set fire to them when they were surrounded by the enemy.
