I reckon you are spot on. It would seem harsh for us to get the full 9 as we have been under embargo and cooperating for quite a while. From an FFP perspective the 3 points suspended would also give the authorities a certain amount of leverage to stop RFC from just going back to more overspending once the penalty had been applied.

Maybe getting a little carried away with a few above average performances, but a win on wed would prob put us in the play off positions. It would then be a shame if we ended up well short again and back in mid table when we had shot up the table

We're definitely getting carried away, but Barnsley were 7 points off the POs after 10 games last season, and finished eight points clear of 7th.

In terms of the punishment we do get, the problem for the EFL is that 9 is the maximum.

When Derby get the 9, having got a much longer list of misdemeanours (including trying to cover up their wrong doing and not co-operating with the Authorities), then what signal does it give out to everyone else if we got the same punishment despite not behaving anywhere near as appallingly as Derby?

I suspect we will get a 6 point deduction with 3 suspended for a number of Years.

Surely 9 is the maximum for breaching FFP.
Other offences could be punished seperatley. We could get 9 for the breach, as could Derby. They could then get additional deductions for failing to submit accounts etc. I believe they have been charged with 5 offences whereas we have not been charged with anything.

According to SJM in his interview I heard on the way to Saturdays game, he doesn't oversee the club that much and is entrenched in his other businesses. He fully trusts his CEOs to run the club...which suggests Gourley had more power than we think at the time. It was also interesting that a lot of the debt was caused by investment in infrastructure (new training ground, youth academies etc), so was hinting that we weren't pissing money up the wall Derbyesque style and this might mean that this could be taken into account and we might get a minimum points deduction (whatever that is) at most, or possibly it might not even happen. So there is hope.

That's a crock of shit. You don't piss 200%+ of your income up the wall on mediocre Championship player's wages if most of the money is going on infrastructure.

Academy spending does not count towards FFP so that theory doesn't stand up. I don't think SJM has been actively involved in the club in anything other than a "figurehead" capacity for the best part of a decade now.

Sunderland were 14th after 10 games in 2006-07, and won the league. Fulham were 11th at the same stage in 2017-18, and were promoted via the playoffs in 3rd. Norwich City were 14th in League One at this stage in 2009-10 (the season they opened by losing 7-1 at home to Colchester), and won the division. And not quite the same, but in 2016-17, Sheffield United were 18th after six games, and top at Xmas.
