Bill Oddie's Beard Didn't West Brom lose something like 11 games last year?! Thats pretty piss poor to still go on and win it! I think it might appear stronger cos so many teams think they can win it, but in reality it might just be because everyone is so shite that they're all even, if that makes sense...

As Geoerge Orwell said in the video "Animal Farm"

All teams are shite, but some teams are more shite than others

Platypuss A very "Reading" signing, tbh. Nowt wrong with that, but I feel this is a prelude to one of Lita/Doyle leaving in this window.

i cant help thinking this too

Well Coppell has said today re N.Hunt "We've had him watched a number of times last season and now Kits has gone as well. I said I was happy with three forwards but a situation arose"

Sounds to me more like he's coming in to compliment those 3 rather than replace one of them.

Doyle in the EP today was also very clear that he wants to stay and help us get back up.

The chronicle seem to think that Hunt Jnr could play out on the wing, i just hope that we are clear about his role and how he is to be used. If this is the case it frees up another space for a striker.

N. Hunt will not be sh!te. He will be good player wherever he plays. Trust me on this. I was the one who said that Doyle would be awesome in the ChampiLOLnship, and he was.

He can probably play on the right wing, as much as Doyle can play on the right wing. Given that the right wing has been our problem position for the last year, the last thing we want is someone who can 'do a job' there. He's been brought in as a striker and hopefully that's where he'll play.

Your compelling argument has convinced me he will be the greatest player in RFC's history.

Having earlier queried the height of our new signing shown on Wikipedia as 5ft 10ins it's interesting that Coppell refers to him on the OS as "a small bloke".
At most I reckon he is only about 5ft 7ins.
As far as our manager is concerned he is not a replacement for Kitson so his height doesn't really matter but do others feel like I do that we need a striker with a genuine physical presence who will also come back for set-pieces?
Time will tell but if we don't buy a striker of that type we ain't half gonna miss Big Dave IMHO.

As mentioned previously all official player profiles have him as 5ft 10ins.

we'll see what N. Hunt can do up front. Give him time like we gave Kits and he may be a gem of a player.

Hunt goes into the category of people who are taller than they look (that includes cricketer Ian Bell - 5ft 11ins  ).

Maybe he slouches a lot. On the subject, Sammy Igoe is actually 6ft 2.

Agree with Hoop Blah that you can't help thinking they have signed Hunt cause it's easy.

Still, the more I hear about him the better he sounds, good in the air for his size. I do think Lita will go and we'll sign the other Irish lad. Replacing proven goal scorers with un tried ones is a risk imo, but Coppell's not gonna sign those proven players like Hulse or Phillips.

I'm still not too worried about the forwards as long as we keep hold of Doyle, who should take the league to pieces next season. It's the right wing that really worries me, we need quality out there, but with Coppell in charge I wouldn't be surprised if we start with Kebe, or even N Hunt out of position. Those 4 forwards will need chances created for them, Kebe and S hunt won't do that.

We've got a lot of money to spend, if we sell Harps and Shorey, we'll have even more. We need 3 - 4 players now, Coppell has to bite the bullet and get them. It's alright making a few risky signings, but we can't keep making the same type of signings, like we saw last season.

The club needs 2 or 3 signings to really catch the imagination, of not just fans but the players as well.

Still Doyle, Lita, Long, N Hunt. Not many better front 4s than that in the Championship.

Agree with a lot of this. I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the guy play whether on the wing or up front. However I still can't help feeling that you get what you pay for, and 6ooK is not a lot even in today's inflated transfer market. Of more concern is my previous experience of watching Scottish signings under the urns era--all mostly failures and the standard of Scottish football if you take away the big 2 is pretty dire. Time will tell.

The club needs 2 or 3 signings to really catch the imagination, of not just fans but the players as well.

People who are winging, what do you expect? Are you disappointed Reading didn't enter the race for Samuel Eto'o? You need to realise we're in the Championship now and a whole hearted player who scored 18 goals in the SPL with a mediocre team is a good signing, I think it's an impressive record in a league that is at a similar level to the Championship. He will also fit right in and hit the ground running with not only his older brother to help him fit in but our entire Irish brigade, this won't be a case of "One for the future". I'm also agreeing with Coppell's comments that just being positive in the transfer market shows we're over relegation and ready to move on, which is a good thing. I'm also impressed that we lost Kitson not even a week ago and we have a replacement who I think will do a good job for us, although I don't quite expect him to fill the ginger's boots. It's making me think that perhaps Coppell and the management are prepared for what may happen over the summer and have replacements lined up for any players who potentially leave. Here's to hoping anyhow.

...meanwhile the likes of Derby and Birmingham aren't just preparing for what might happen they're getting out there, spending the cash and getting the players (proven ones not SPL hobbits) into their pre-seasons!
