(My 2p)

Unless something went on we don't know about I think it was way too soon.

If there hadn't been wholesale changes over the summer then possibly but there had been. Amongst those leaving were Doyle and Bikey - two Prem standard players and plenty of new players are in the first XI. Our shooting had been terrible and I think Rodgers knew a clinical striker was what was missing. The signings of Cummings and Mills are currently open to question but the purchases of McAnuff and Rasiak have been great.

In terms of tactics/substitutions the Kebe substitution was the only one that irritated me as I didn't think it was needed on Sat for defensive reasons. Maybe a few times when Gylfi has been taken off has irked me a bit.

The performance against Scunthorpe was actually pretty good.

rob the royal hold on a minute... how did you get bullet points? is that the list one. I never even noticed that one.

never mind, i've got it now...

reasons why I'm happy Brendan left:

  • His watch is somewhat nicer than mine (mine is pretty nice though)
  • This is doing wonders for my post count
  • I don't really like his accent

What the fcuk is up with all this hype surrounding the wife beater Darren Ferguson!? Some of you are saying Rodgers was out of his depth, sooooooooooooooooo, you want us to appoint someone who had a couple of months experience managing in this league....before getting sacked?! aaaaah, makes sense...

Gotta be fackin kidding, shit for eyes.

PEARCEY
leon I feel sorry for the guy - an experienced manager would have found it difficult selling the talent and then using a lot of very inexperienced players - however I dont think he was getting the guidance and support that he got when he was at Watford with Taylor.

That said he came out with a lot of hyperbole and talked himself and his team's mediocre performances up to ridiculous levels which frankly got on my nerves. If we played sh*t just say it - don't bullsh*t us. Maybe that's what finally got to JM.

I didn't want Rodgers as manager and wanted him out but I have to say that now its happened I feel very sorry for him too.
He didn't have much of a chance really but didn't help himself. He must have known at the time of the Dellor interview time was running out.

I did wonder if at the Dellor interview he'd 'had words' with Madejski or Howe or someone. He seemed like a man under fire.

'Mutual Consent' my arse. And I suppose Austin and Lampard joined Rodgers in suddenly feeling it was best for everyone if they signed up for a spell on the dole queue!

The timing of the announcement and the absence of a clearly prepared statement suggests very strongly to me that this was not a particularly planned event on the part of either party and I doubt very much was the consequence of a convivial chat! To my mind far more likely that a major disagreement occurred on the best way forward (past and future transfer dealings being a likely topic) and relationships irretrievably broke down.

Whatever happened, I've a nasty feeling that Madejski has just launched us on another step towards League One.

Hello Royals.

From all at Watford FC, can I offer you the warmest and most kind hearted Merry Christmas? In a week of abject misery for our club you've raised all our spirits yet again. We shall walk around for weeks with huge smiles on our faces, administration or no administration, and it's all thanks to you. Let's party in May in Watford town centre, all invited.

Love,

This has happened too soon. Performances were getting better and we were only a few players short of a decent team.

God knows who will come in and what sort of football we play. Although I guess the resuls mean more than anything. Let's do a Stoke..

i know what you mean I was like that with Tommy Burns who i couldn't stand.

If he'd just been a bit more honest about our performances and not kept telling us we'd been "outstanding" - when actually I know what an outstanding Reading performance looks like....

It's about time this happened, we're in a downward curve at the moment, it give's a new manager a chance to come in and make changes in jan.

It's pretty obvious that somebody is lined up already and it will be somebody thats out of a job atm.

We were all over them for most the match and should have won by 2 clear goals. If a team is not creating chances you have real issues (and you prob change the manager).

I like Watford away so I might drop in for that one.

To be honest I think you lot were a bit harsh on him for walking out on you for his 'dream' job, but all that aside... What did you make of Rodgers (truthfully) when he was your manager? Or have we made a mistake in sacking him so early? I mean obviously you must have rated him to an extent to get so annoyed about him upping sticks and ditching you?

Sir Rodger Doyle Whoever it is will be left with an impossible task. A squad stripped of it's prize assets, a squad low on confidence who have lost a manager they believed in.

Spot on.

How do you know they believed in him? Maybe that was a factor in him going?

He believed in them. How many members of the current team were given their chance by Rodgers.

Feds, Pearce, Karacan, Marek, Howard, Sigurdsson, Macanuff, Rasiak, Bertrand, Cummings, Church and even Tabb.

I think the fact they are doing better than ever with Malky....despite off the field issues & selling even more players than we did speaks volumes. I'm guessing they're glad he's gone.

Yeah with hindsight, just wondering what this particular poster made of him at the time. I'm still not sure what to make of him myself.
