The goal difference is hugely importance now. Basically means Sunderland can't catch us, and if Burton drop another point neither can they. Forget them. We are playing not to be in 22nd. They could catch the three beneath us, but not us.
Don't want to be complacent, but it is very unlikely that all three of Bolton, Barnsley and Brum overtake us - maybe one, possibly two, but all three given that Barnsley have 3/4 games away from home (including Leeds), Bolton still have Wolves (going for 100 points, on a roll) and Burton to play and Brum have three games they could conceivably get nothing from.....
If you look at the form over the last 10 games none of the sides in the bottom six have averaged more than a point a game - Barnsley and Brum 10 points from the last 10 games, us 9 points, Sunderland 8, Bolton 7 and Burton 6.
Of the ones realistically fighting Bolton are the ones I fear for - only one win in 10 games, and when you look at the very recent form they have taken just one point from the last 5 games. That is by far the worst of the current form of the bottom six as the points taken out of the last 15 available show just how alarming Bolton's current form is - Birmingham and us lead the way with 7 points, Sunderland 6, Burton and Barnsley 5, then Bolton with 1 point.
Football is a confidence game, and as fans we often expect the worst to happen to our side, but Barnsley are consistent over 5 and 10 games in averaging a point a game, us and Brum have picked up towards the end of the season in terms of points gained, and Sunderland and Burton have picked up, but realistically too late for it to matter.
Bolton however........on current short and long term form and with the fixtures they have left I can see them being in trouble. Are they really going to get even four points from the nine left to overtake our current points tally given one win in ten and Wolves being one of their last three games?
Yann's header to equalise was huge as I had Sunderland as a nailed on loss. They have hit a bit of form and a point was huge.
Bookies have us at between 33/1 and 40/1 to go down. That's for a reason. If you are the eternal pessimist then £20 will see you handsomely rewarded in a few weeks.
Still been a sh1t season though.
