For the last three match days, the Independent have not had a reporter at our matches. I'm going to keep a record of whether they turn up or not.

Why?

It's not time consuming, and it could show- statistically- that the media hate us  .

Not quite on topic, but I can't let this one slip by without mention:

Capital first for the Magpies
Newcastle United will play their first ever FAWPL fixture in London when they travel to take on Reading.

The game was in Didcot, or NW1 as it will be known from now on.

This from today's Telegraph Sport, accompanying the match report:

"It came in the 13th minute during some pinball football in the Watford penalty area. After the ball had been cleared, an own goal against Eustace was given to give Reading the game's opener.

If sportsmanship had been shown, Reading's players would have owned up and allowed Watford to score an uncontested equaliser.

Wishful thinking? Maybe, especially if you listened to the managers.

"If someone stops you in a car park and gives you a present, you don't say 'no' do you?" was Reading manager Steve Coppell's cynical interpretation, while counterpart Aidy Boothroyd agreed. "I don't expect any charity," he said. "I've got no qualms with Steve – I'd have done exactly the same."

Meanwhile, Nigel Bannister, the false-flagging linesman, is to set to receive "operational advice" from the Professional Game Match Officials

Paul Rejer, PGMO assistant referees' manager, said: "From his position and angle it appeared the ball had crossed the line for a goal. He has made a human error.

"When the ball is bobbling about in the penalty area it is difficult to know that the ball has crossed the line. Performances by referees and assistant referees are reviewed every game, both on the day and by DVD."

Nevertheless, the thought remains that this was an opportunity missed to remind the world that fair play lives on in English football."

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this said by Boothroyd, not SC? If so, some sort of retraction is in order.
Anyway, didn't we confirm our sense of fair play and injustice by allowing Watford to go 2-1 up?

I read that report online in The Telegraph last night. Today I noticed that it had been changed, the quote removed and all allegations about fair play and sportsmanship taken out.

I must have an early edition delivered to home, as it's all still there in black and white - I have e-mailed the Telegraph asking them to acknowledge and correct.

I wondered if anyone else noticed this. I was having my tea late on when I got in listening to SSN and was shocked to hear Adam Fed played in nets for us AND Stoke! Sky simpletons.

The Sun let us down on Saturday.

Apparently Noel Hunt was the player to watch in the Reading Vs Swansea match. Something along the lines of how well he's done since his move from Ireland.

Do you actually KNOW that he wasn't commuting to Dundee (United obviously, but I couldn't leave just the town name 'cos of all the inherent internet pedantry) ?
