Deducted this season and i'm sure if starting in administration next season then deducted another 10 points.

From Wikipedia

Leeds United filed for administration with only a few days remaining in the 2006–07 season, which automatically triggered a 10 point penalty. This placed Leeds at the bottom of the table and relegated the club, but they were extremely likely to have been relegated anyway. By entering administration during the 2006–07 season, they hoped to avoid starting the 2007–08 season on −10 points. The Football League saw this as a club trying to exploit a loophole and changed the rules. From 2007–08, any club entering administration after the fourth Thursday in March would have their 10 point deduction suspended until the following season. Similarly, if a club were relegated the deduction was also to be suspended until the start of the following season.[20]

They've not been helped by a number of interesting decisions by one the linos.

Give them their credit, they've had a real go - unlucky not to be at least level.

Today just means that Swansea are a more likley candidate to be over-taken, rather than Cardiff.

Still a long shot but it's nice we're still in with a shout with 8 games to go.

Swansea have played 40, scored 33 and conceded 31 and somehow remain in fifth, 5 points clear of seventh

Leicester have cardiff and west brom away in the next week before we even play again.
Lose both and we'll be 9 points behind them with 3 games in hand.
then cardiff play swansea next saturday .

It most certainly is all to play for still.

I think we want one of Cardiff, Swansea or Leicester to be consistently bad over the rest of the season. Doesn't matter which one. What we don't want is for them all to be average picking up points here and there and dropping them elsewhere.

Oh and one of our games in hand is against Newcastle, which I don't think we can really consider to be more than 1 point. Yes we might win, but it's a bit of a long shot.

Scunthorpe Beat Sheff Utd, One of our games in hand will now take us ahead of them.

I'm backing Cardiff to beat Leicester Tuesday, then WBA to beat them on Friday and then hopefully QPR to on Easter Monday, heres to hoping!!

thata applies when teams would have gone down anyway, otherwise its applied immediately. But i dont think this covers the play offs, ie if Cardiff blew their play off chances with a game to spare, they could take the 10 point hit with no penalty effectively.

We'll chin 'em. It's all about other teams failing now, although the Blades are small fry in the calculations. Leicester and Swansea are who matter; that and Cardiff's legal woes.

That is the one quirk of the rules still. However, would be midly amusing if they are 9 pts clear of 7th and get a deduction near the end of the season.

Isn't their court case a few days AFTER the end of the season. So what would happen if they were put in administration at that court case? The playoff matches will already have been arranged and tickets sold..........

It is - and if they are wound up someone will get the chance to a Denmark I would assume or there would be a bye for their opponents. I can't see the Premier League accepting them if they are in admin anyway.

There is a strong possibility though that they could still go in to admin prior to that.
