Platypuss YEP:

We have confirmation of one at least...although still not certain of availability for tomorrow...

A Cardiff City statement said: "We can confirm that a deal to bring Sean Morrison to Cardiff City Football Club has, this afternoon, been completed.

"Twenty-six year old Sean, a 6'4" centre half, has signed with the Bluebirds until the summer of 2018.

"The relevant paperwork has been submitted, with Sean's eligibility ahead of Saturday' game with Huddersfield to be confirmed."

26 years old? Always assumed he was younger than that, 23 maybe.

Ridiculous money for a player who I find quite difficult to watch as I feel there's always a mistake around the corner.

floyd__streete You're all mocking Cardiff.....and to an extent I agree this is an excellent deal for us.....

But does anyone want to bet ten pound against my prediction that Cardiff will finish above us this season :?:

Thought not.

I'll take that bet if it is amended to 'because of Morrison' rather than 'in spite of Morrison'.

So, for now, has this strengthened our defence, but weakened our midfield?

Good to get it done quickly. Now we need a replacement. I don't buy that the largely untested pair of Hector and Ferdinand can fill in for him.

Cheers Sean and congrats for the way your career's gone, but you weren't ever that good and for £4 million we're laughing.

If we were any other club on the planet that 4m would bring in a decent CB or DM.

He's 23. Get the feeling the next two weeks or so are going to be very interesting transfer wise.

Absolute  at the quality of Cardiff's scouting. They don't even know how old he is...

LoyalRoyal22 Assume you are not talking to me. I would be happy with Pearce/Hector for now. But leaves us with an embarrassing lack of options in CM.

Was aimed at Sparta. I agree about the CM position. Only have Kuhl, Taylor, Tshibola and Akpan as natural CMs fit to play there.

Guthrie played the last 30 minutes at Wigan and was partly responsible for our improved performance during that time.

I'd imagine that after another weeks worth of training he'll be fit enough to start on Saturday, probably alongside Obita with Hector dropping back to partner Pearce. As much as I don't rate Akpan I'd probably shift Obita back to left back as well and bring Akpan in alongside Guthrie.

With the interest in Hammond being pretty clear I wouldn't be surprised if he signs at the start of next week too, maybe in time to be involved on Tuesday night.

Best of luck to him! Just glad this was done early and fast with plenty of time to recruit.

Are we to presume that Swind*n had a sell-on clause?

Yeah, knock that protesting old doddery grandad John out of the way and invest the money back into the squad please.

andrew1957 I think this is great news. 4M will pay half of Royston's salary whilst he sees out the season in the Under 21's and we can re-sign Gorkss on a free. Job done.

There is a reason Gorkss is on a free

Or a hugely frustrating anti climax as us fans have been accustomed to.

I am with schards on this. Who cares what the fee is, if it is not used to bolster our squad in the positions we are crying our for, it doesn't matter the size of fee.

This will give us a good early indication about our new Thai Overlords.

Mixed feelings about this one.
Been saying for the last two seasons that we need to sell one of Pearce/Morrison and get an experienced CB in. I can tolerate one of them on the pitch, but not both.
So that's half of my plan executed, but if Ferdinand is the experienced CB then that is going to be disappointing.
