Hound Anyway the interview is well worth a listen. Certainly more than aware of the issues we face and nice to hear Bowen talking directly and openly to the press

Basically
Joao unlikely to be sold
Moore is injured as we know, not some made up stuff. Clearly not all roses behind the scenes with him though
Central midfield the priority
Laurent and Rino moved for the money (fair enough)
Carey/Bowen seem very much in charge of recruitment genuinely

And lots of other stuff

Thanks Hound, good to know, and saves me the effort of listening. :D

Just finished listening. Good, straight forward stuff from Bowen which is what I would expect. As per Hound and made clear due diligence will be undertaken to try and avoid signing injury prone players but one or two such players may be brought in due to our restrictions but they will look to avoid too many such players being signed.

On Moore I get the strong impression the club will look to loan him out if fit in January.
He is in charge of who we sign and will report to Yongge. Says Dai hasn’t lost any passion for the club and still has ambitions for promotion etc.

I have no reason to doubt Bowen and not Kia will be in charge of recruitment. I don’t think Bowen would have taken the job otherwise.

Not heard it all, so may be a rehash but written press have quotes from Bowen saying he expects us to have a LB in early next week and as per the above that CM is a priority.

Wants to have as many as possible in before season starts but leave room for 1 or 2 to arrive towards the end of the window as that is often when the best loan deals materialise.

They are on Get Reading, so guess he has been doing the press rounds over the last 24 hours.

Hound The comments Bowen made about ‘doing their homework’ on players was interesting I thought

Hoepfully does mean less punts on talented but maybe ineffective players and more on tough, hardened and mentally strong players which is where we’ve lacked over recent times

Even the whole strategy behind bringing in players that staff/players know well or have worked with before is a positive for me. Understanding someone's character, how well they train, personalities etc will go a long way to determining who will fit in with the players we currently have and who we will bring in.

Knowing that we will have to bring in a lot of new faces alongside some existing squad members, having the knowledge of the personality of players before we sign them because of past experiences will be good I think as we look to build a squad with more togetherness and unity, which will be a key factor for us because of where we are likely to be battling this season.

Maybe we’ll start going more down the Brentford route with player profiling and identifying players who are performing well for clubs playing in the lower leagues, overseas, and in the UK. I also think they have quite a scientific approach but it all seems to work very well.

Yeah they use data and statistical analysis when recruiting players. Expected goals is a big one for a striker, as they'll target someone with a high expected goals output, rather than actual goals, which can mean a decrease in value as well, but then supplement that with players who can work with said player. So if a striker has an expected goal stat of 10 from cut backs, they would also look to supplement that with someone who has good dribbling ability, can regularly get to the byline, has composure in the area etc.

The principle isn't anything new, however using data and statistical analysis was the differentiating factor as they could pick up players with high expected stats with low value, who they can then improve to sell on for massive profits.

There is clearly a lot going on at the club with numerous players on trial or being linked with us. Some won’t happen but others will. I do feel that Bowen returning was important. He knows what needs to be done and his no nonsense approach is what we need.

Considering his age, experience, and injury record, it would be very brave of Samuels to leave in pursuit of being first choice elsewhere.

Probably big ifs but if we can improve our injury record this season and bring in some of the players we’ve been linked to I think we can surprise a few people. I haven’t felt this positive about the club for ages.

He'd of been stupid not to. You can't work through the youth team set up at a club to be offered first team experience and then say, well this first team that I've been striving to play for for years is shit, I'm going elsewhere.

Actually thinking about he's probably right, we are shit, but we'd give him a chance to show how less shit we can be.

He’s hardly ‘worked his way through our youth set up’, he signed for us aged 18 !
