Ian Royal problem is I can see us drawing a fair few and still losing the at least 1 more game, possibly 2-3.

Either way it's going to be tight!

Down to the last game in all probability as we've thought it might be most of the season.

I see Bristol have maintained their crap record against the top ten

Why did they have to beat US as the exception?

And I predicted they'd drop away and finish out of the play-offs and 9th or worst. Where are they now?

We basically have to win our home games now, including Birmingham W6-D7-L5 18-18; and Sheffield Utd W8-D7-L4 25-16 two TOUGHIES

Because we were on apalling form and they got two soft soft goals we gifted to them.

Precisely, so it wasn't Bristol's "quality" that did it.

Which is why they are back to 9th

Their quality stopped us scoring and put in a high quality ball for the first goal at least.

They're a limited side, but it was stupid to write off their good form of the time just because they hadn't beaten a side in the current top 10.

I'm surprised you weren't reminding us about your predictions re Bristol City about a week ago, Snowball. Oh hang on, no, I'm not surprised, because they were 5th at the time.

You PRATT! One fnucking game later? Are you REALLY that dumb?

If they went FOURTH beating us, it will take time to fall away...

Ask your teacher to explains "sums" to you. You see when you're in front, and you don't get lots of points,
then the other sides catch you up and pass you. It's like a race. Teacher will explain.

4th Bristol City 34 6 8 3 24 19 8 3 6 20 18 +7 53 ---- Immediately after beating Reading

5th Bristol City 35 6 9 3 24 19 8 3 6 20 18 +7 54 ---- 1 game later
8th Bristol City 35 6 9 3 24 19 8 3 6 20 18 +7 54 ---- 2 games later
9th Bristol City 37 6 9 3 24 19 8 3 8 21 21 +5 54 ---- 3 games later

and they've played one game more than the two sides above them
and they've played one game more than the two sides below them

They've still only beaten ONE side in the top ten, and they only have 9 games left

So what? They beat us and are chasing a play off spot. They're a decent side just lacking that little extra quality to really compete fully at the top that's all.

At the time we played them they were by no means going to be a push over and consequently beat us. At best we deserved a draw. That's at absolute best. They took their chances and gave us scraps to feed off. Get over the fact you called it completely wrong.

You are right about this. If you take out their recent win against us they have picked up a pathetic 5 points out of 39 againt the top 10 sides. I'd say that pretty damn well proves they have a woeful record against the top 10 sides and it would not surprise me if it was the worst of all 24 teams

Just seems an odd time to go making the point again after them getting beaten by a side who ahve just pulled themselves away from the relegation zone!!!

As comonurz said, maybe its just because it meant they slipped out of the play offs from that loss so made your original point look better

I agree they have a pretty poor record against the top ten sides, no doubting that, but seeing as 3 points against 18th is worth the same as 3 points against 4th I dont think they will be too bothered if they make it to the play offs

Latest update to my crude forecast (a mean of overall points and form over last six) does not make for encouraging reading. I think if we don't win our next two, we're almost certainly looking at playoffs at best.

1. Wolves - 84
2. Brum - 83
3. Cardiff - 80
4. Reading - 78
5. Sheff U - 76
6. Burnley - 70

Even if we win out two HOME games we will still be behind Wolves and probably also Brum with all those lovely awaydays to come. It's not looking encouraging unless we start winning all of our away games.

Actually, dearie. I didn't call it completely wrong.

I posted the facts and stats that said they were crap against the top ten. They were crap against the top ten and they still are crap against the top ten. I also posted that my gut feeling was that we'd lose or if we were lucky scrape a 0-0 draw. I then added, "but the stats say different."

Now, for example, the stats say we should beat Charlton comfortably

and my gut feeling thinks 4-0 or even 5-0

Doyler made a good point on the radio (and so did Murts this morning) that 4 points from 2 away games is excellent. especially given our form going into those games.

Let's remember that Plymouth also drew at home to Sheffield United who have an AWESOME away record then won at Wolves, beat a resurgent Watford.

And remember that Wednesday beat Sheff Utd twice this season and had just had a brilliant win at Burnley

Thing is, a 2-points a game average AWAY would give us 12 points and 4 wins and a draw at home would take us to 85

2 points per game away and win all our homes = 87 and would leave Birmingham needing 21 points from 8 games, they'd have to win 7 from 8, one game against Wolves.

The big thing is we are going to have to win a fair few away.

But they won't make the play-offs, is my point. We got beaten because we played badly, not because they were good.

Remember I predicted 9-11th AT THE END OF THE SEASON, when they were sitting in fourth with about a dozen games to go. It takes time to drop down the rankings

Wolves, Birmingham, Reading, Cardiff, Sheffield United, Swansea/Burnley/Preston would be my six, but Swansea may be dropping back into too-may-draws and Preston are wobbling. But it looks like Bristol's current 9th place is where they'll end up
