Norfolk Royal Fordham's got a piece in The Sun today saying Teddy could make £250-million from turning the car park into a shopping centre.

If that's the case, why hasn't the club done it already.

But more to the point, where are all the shoppers going to park?

In the MadStad of course - just cover the pitch and park on the pitch!

Hasn't it been said somewhere that the deal would also include permission to build flats/houses at Hogwood?

Surely this would be a deal sweetener??

Way I see it it's a toss up between the Indian guy who's the son of a billionaire (and we've had one of those before) and an actual billionaire.

Within that are many pros and cons.

The billionaire has more direct access to money and may invest more quickly. But he also wants a shopping centre in the car park and may view the deal more in terms of how he can make money from subsidiary activities to football. The worst scenario is that he is not interested in the football club at all and sees it more as a land deal.

The Indian guy demonstrates a greater interest in actual sport at the moment, running a cricket team in the IPL. That means it is virtually certain that when he takes over we will become known as Reading Royals. There is already an IPL team called Royals.

Beyond that it's all about the small print which we will not be privy to. For instance, will there be a sale clause that guarantees the stadium must remain and only be used for football. Is that even possible as a stipulation.

I'm verging towards Teddy merely because of the money, like most fans probably, but it's a gamble.

Also, with a name like Teddy he could attract new fans in the 1-8 age group.

It does seem odd that someone who's made their money in gambling and online software thinks there's money to be made in shops. Just look at the Glaziers shopping Mall disasters. The hotel idea sounds OK (even though it's over the road from the Millenium and the Hilton has recently opened), and the housing development but shops? Really?

He has just bought Camden stables market for 400m so he is looking at shops. (he also owns hotel(s).

However the more I think about it, the more a mixed use dwelling c/w shopping centre makes sense. (Like Newbury has just had)

The area is a desolate waste land 90% of the time so it would make it more vibrant. . There has been plans for green park village area to have housing added which would be close. Also the South Reading area development has been looked at and this could make other developers look closer at their own potential projects. The rail station is now looking like it's going to go ahead. It all helps.

I can't see the need for an additional hotel given it's present one is only full mon- wed and not even then every week. Reading lakes is getting ready for renovation and possible expansion (money and planning tbc)

As an investment it makes really good sense and the area will be transformed. Chelsea was a vanity project for Abramovich. This smells of a business opportunity and to that end not sure the benefit of a football club within these plans though so what happens to the team is anyone's guess..

Having a large shopping centre nearby can only benefit the club tbh. Don't forget that with FFP we actually have to generate money to spend, rather than just have a sugar daddy hand over a load of cash, so a guy who has ambiotious revenue generating ideas would be preferable. Parking would need to be addressed, as well as the transport network, but I'm sure that would be taken into account.

I heard he wants to make the site a super casino.

Turning the Green Park area into the UK's Las Vegas.

Why do you think Grovesnor moved towards there?

Unfortunately I can't see it being a bidding war. I'd imagine one will pull out so I doubt it's going to be a case of us choosing our preferred choice.

It's probably just blind hope, but it might be as much about boosting profile to aid other business opportunities and putting as much in place here to actually generate cash to mitigate the drain from the club itself so the club doesn't act as as much of a black hole for cash.

These two strike me as more concerning than Anton though. Uh-oh.

Yeah but then you'll have four shops, one for each corner of the Stadium.
