What we HAVE to do is average 2 points per game over the last 15 games. Of that there's virtually no dispute (tho' we could sneak in with 28/29 from 15)

This constant hand-wringing every draw or loss is silly

For that last 15 we are either ahead of 2 ppg, behind, or on target.

Fifteen to go

1-1 1.00 ppg Watford BEHIND
2-1 2.00 ppg Millwall 2 ppg ON TARGET
3-3 1.67 ppg Palace BEHIND

2-0 2.00 ppg Boro ON TARGET
1-1 1.80 ppg Ipswich BEHIND
2-0 2.00 ppg Preston ON TARGET

Where it gets tricky is failing to win a home banker, or losing away when we need a point, but try judging things is blocks, eg to the end of March. We have Boro, Ipswich, Preston, Barnsley and we need 8 points from those 4 games WDWD = 8, WLWW = 9, WDWW = 10 or WWWW = 12

WLWD would probably not be good enough as we'd be on 55 points with 8 to play, needing 2 ppg just to get to 71

Good Point.

Let's ban all predictions of results, scores, points-to-be-won in the next six games,
guesses at finishing position, speculations on signings, rumours of signings....

and any opinions, any team-selections, any comments on the manager or players or pitch
or cost of tickets, or the weather

We just need Graham to post the score after the game.

Could the football chat not just be cut loose from this portal

I only really pay attention to what a few people write on the team board
anyway (Floyd, Meldrew and.......one or to others)

i have an RFC branded toaster called hal.
it browns RFC into each and every side of bread.

cos its club related, does it deserve its own thread?

Nice to see our total goals and GD improving

It could yet come down to one or both of those.

What's your problem?

We might nick sixth on GD, or be equal GD and get it on total goals scored, so 5-2 is better than 3-0

With seven games left last season we were on 52 points with a negative goal difference

12 Reading 39 14-10-15 52-55 GD = -03 52
10 Reading 35 12-15-08 56-42 GD = +15 51

We are 18 goals better than last season, one point off that with 4 games in hand.

We are still 6 points off Leeds with one less game to play so presumably we are now worse off than we were before kick-off?
Also wins for Burnley,Watford,Hull and Portsmouth so no improvement in our position.

Agreed, but plenty of clubs are still going to be disappointed.

We have a very good run in and the chance to hurt Forest and Leeds when we go there.

Time for the jitters for a few clubs. Only one win in six games for Forest

01 35 37 70 QPR
02 35 17 62 Swansea
03 35 15 61 Cardiff
04 35 12 60 Norwich
05 35 15 59 Nott'm Forest
06 35 10 57 Leeds

I think there may be a few surprises yet. Will Swansea blow, will Cardiff choke?

Never mind sixth place, there could be 1-2-3 places up for grabs

07 33 11 53 Burnley
08 35 04 52 Hull
09 35 -1 52 Leicester
10 35 15 51 Reading
11 35 02 50 Portsmouth
12 34 09 49 Watford
13 35 06 47 Millwall
14 34 2 45 Ipswich
