AthleticoSpizz Knowing the EFL fixture bingo, we'll probably have Blackpool and Fleetwood away on two consecutive Saturdays, with Plymouth (away) sandwiched-in on the Wednesday inbetween

Plymouth are promoted
of course, ….okay then, Exeter

Even the FL haven’t yet plummed the depths of giving sides 3 consecutive away games (unless a team has short term ground problems) so that certainly won’t happen.

Jackson Corner Most of the teams in this crap league don’t have undersoil heating

Really?! I genuinely just assumed pretty much everyone did in the EFL these days, barring 2 or 3 traditionally non league clubs up in L2 right now

At least half do not have a lot of games were postponed in league 1. Recent winters have been fairly mild but some clubs with poor drainage and small ground staffs. Can end up with 5 postponed games a season. Out of interest would anyone be bothered to help staff clear the pitch of snow if it was to happen?

Clubs dont need to have undersoil heating these days as there are lower cost alternatives like the pitch covers used by so many lower league clubs. The police are very often involved in calling off games in winter as its the surrounding area that is deemed dangerous for vehicle traffic and people traffic.

I'm sure they can find a way to make us the first.

EFL clubs prefer to have long-distance matches scheduled for weekdays, to leave the saturdays for more local matches as these attract bigger crowds, so expect Blackpool and Fleetwood away to be midweek games.

Corrected for you.

Winston Biscuit Which teams are people most looking to playing/travelling to if we go down?

Lincoln, 100%. I went to uni there and I'm always looking for an excuse to go back.

I went to Exeter a few years ago, just was passing through on the way back from somewhere so stopped off for lunch and thought it was a really nice place. Definitely would consider a long weekend there if we end up playing them at a decent time of year.

One place I can say I won't be wanting to go is Stevenage. Hated it the first time and would no doubt hate it a second time.

Yeah, Exeter would also be on the list.

Stevenage, not so much - would only be considering it due to ease of getting to on the train.

Charlton is a decent away day - Dennis Rekels day ftw.

Oxford, obviously.

Orient will be pretty easy to get to as well.

I would not expect much Bristol is a real mess of a ground. Cheltenham is a step above non league. I’ve not been to Shrewsbury new ground the old one was next to a river and when the ball went over the main stand. A man used to run round get on a small boat and row to retrieve the match ball.

I kinda wanna do Fleetwood just to say I have been there, looks like the biggest arse to get to. Right out the way of anything.

yeah heard similar or B Rovers tbh. I like the sound of Cheltenham & Shrewsbury. Forest Green was probs the main one I would have liked, but L1 is a step too far for them

Fleetwood to Barrow is only around 10 miles apart directly, but by land it takes around 1:45 to travel between them (Same as 'Ding to Coventry). I have often wondered if that kills off any kind of potential rivalry.

Must be some small ferry companies going between the 2 surely?
