brendywendy i voe we have him cvhained to the mad stad for eternity.
he my favourite player, and has been since he arrived, and i wish all you johnny come lately kebe lovers would just piss off

Still Hate Futcher! I'm sorry but I think Kebe's ok. I admit that he's too inconsistent but that's true of most wingers and I certainly don't think he played badly last night. For me the occasional moments of comedy genius just make me warm to him more.

I've followed Reading for 25 years and can count on one hand the number of decent right wingers we've had in that time - Kebe's no Glen Little but then he's no Harold Meaker either.

+1 Brendy. I posted the above in Jan as one of the few who thought he was ok. Now he's a damn sight better that ok and I feel like a smug smartarse for having stood by him.

Snowball Do you really think someone calle Kee-Bee would play as well as a Keb-ay?

The more Es a player has in his surname the more consistently he will play.

There is no actual evidence for it but it is nevertheless scientific fact.

I've always liked Kebe. Mind you, I liked Matejovsky too.

Kebe and Mills are my two favourite players - until January. Probably.

Stick it up your arse Brenders. I was praising Kebe back in the summer of 2008 following the pre-season friendly v Forest Green when you were still a pup.

brendywendy i have no misconceptions about kebes great love for this club or his loyalty
im just enjoying the lads ability, and loving watching him play- has been worth the entrance fee alone to see him do his stuff for tyhe last few years.

i wish people would just live in the present, and stop getting all worked up about possible future permutations that may or may not happen.
just chill and enjoy you big whingeing fairys

I couldn't agree more. He's a top player and he may leave in January if a big enough offer comes in. But then he may decide to stay because he likes it here. Or maybe an offer won't come in but he'll want to go so when the window closes he'll stop trying to be good. It is of course possible that we'll loan him out so he's still technically our player. If we do it may be that we recall him. But what if he gets injured? That'll change things. If we do sell him it could be a part exchange for another winger. I wonder who it could be? let's speculate.

Is kebe next?

by Bucks Dave » 26 Sep 2010 11:46

Being a long term Reading fan I always look for the cloud on the horizon so picture it.

Jan transfer window and Kebe's displays have been capturing Premiership and French premiership attentions. We get a bid of £7M for him and he gets the offer of a top contract way above anything a Reading player has plus promises of European cup matches and top recognition of his footballing skills in front of large crowds. (Remind you of anyone?)

1) Do we let him go? Cue outburst of fury from fans and crowds drop.
2) Do we match his offered contract and demand he continues for us. Cue very unhappy player plus pressure on contracts from others.
3) Do we offer a better contract but not match the premiership offer?

You're the manager. What do you do? And if anyone mentions using the loyalty card Kebe will remind you that in earlier days a lot of fans said he was sh*t.

If we were offered £7million for Kebe we'd sell him.

i think the club is in a position to turn down offers now tbh - well for this season, i think it will all depend on whether jimmy wants to go, if we are still in or around the playoffs come jan i expect him to stay till the summer

History would tell us that:

1. If someone makes a decent offer he'll be gone

2. The proceeds won't be reinvested in the team

There is no way in this world that if we were offered £7million for Kebe, Madejski wouldn't bite their hands off for it.

I think we know that players become unsettled if premier clubs are sniffing about: it's better to let them go because their form will only evaporate (Shorey, Hunt, Doyle). Clearly Brian is planning to bring the likes of HRK and Antonio along to fill the gap if Kebe or McAnuff leave. The former's goal yesterday was very Kebe-ish (romp forward and thrash).

I'm not asking what the club will do. I'm saying what would you do? And put yourself in Kebe's position if he's told to stay.

I agree. I'd say he's an equivalent property to Victor Moses, who went for about 2.5 million.

Oh right. Well, personally, I would want to keep Kebe for as long as possible, but if I were the manager and £7million was bid for a player, I don't think I'd have any say in it. If I were Kebe I'd go where the money is, because he'll never get big money at Reading.
