1. Gilkes
2. Shaka
3. Kitson

One of these three hasn't bought me a pint in the B&C, but I'm not going to let on which tightwad lanky ginger cun t it was.

1 = Shaka
Remember going to Elm Park as a little kid and being amazed at this impossibly tall bloke in goal. Add the fact that he was a great player and had an amazing relationship with the crowd he was an instant hero.
1 = Forster
Can't seperate him and Shaka. He would get people off their feet with those amazing runs going past several players. Fozzy was a one man team 106.
3 Little
Forster without the pace or goals. I didn't think he was that great after his first season but he proved me wrong several times over.

Mine are all recent tbh;

Bobby Convey- I know, weird selection but someone else put it to so so can I. Always loved to watch him play, still think he could have been one of our best players in the Prem. Never warmed to Shunt because I always felt he was just housesitting for Convey whilst he was injured.

Andre Bikey- for his time here I always got excited to see his name starting. You knew he was either going to put in a solid, albeit nerve racking performance or he was going to go psycho. Some of his mazy runs from CB were a joy and he couldn't have played his last game in any other way than the red card and resulting psycho streak off the pitch. What entertainment!

Jimmy Kebe- when he gets the ball the whole stadium believes he can make something happen. Even when most the support was in his back, as soon as he got the ball they were willing him to skin the full back. He's proved all those doubters wrong and even if he can't pull off the spectacular he'll resort to the stupid for added entertainment.

There were so many I'd like to put special mentions to;

Trevor Morley (when I was getting into football he seemed to score a brace every time I went to elm park), Matejovsky- frustrating player but some of his play was magic and both his goals were stunning. Adie Williams- always Gave 100% and Keith Scott- for lols.

The longer I sit and think about it, the more impossible it becomes to pick just three: - BUT as an instinctive take-a-deep-breath-plucked-out-of-the-air-straight-off - ignoring the "My God! How could I have left HIM out" feelings-type-effort :

Trevor 'God' Senior
Richie Bowman
Kevin Doyle

UPDATE:

My family insisted on having their 'votes' registered : :roll:

Wife (stopped going to matches approx early 90's)
Mark 'Chalky' White
Martin 'Hooves of Steel' Hicks
Kerry Dixon

Eldest (ST since about 04/05)
Nicky Shorey
Linvoy Primus (still has cuddly Lion called Linvoy - even though he's 13 :wink: )
Andre 'Spiderman' Bikey

Middle One (only been going since MaccyD took over)
The Sig
Jimmy Kebe
Jobi McAnuff

Youngest (only been to RFC match once, this season - but seems to be the most obsessive of the three)
The Sig
Shane Long
Dave Kitson (also has cuddly Lion - smaller - called Kitson :D )

Dave Kitson
Kevin Doyle
Jimmy Kebe

There may have been better players (Sidwell, Shorey, Convey for a season, Little etc) but those are the 3 that I would pay money to watch day in, day out

Easier to do this on players who no longer play for the club.

Of the players I have seen pull on the many variations of Reading shirts over the years my top 3 in no order are;

Michael Gilkes
Kevin Doyle

Honourable mentions again in no order for;
Martin Hicks
Trevor Senior
Jimmy Quinn
Darren Caskey
Phil Parkinson
Mick Gooding
Stuart Lovell
Tom Jones
Dylan Kerr
Shaka
Steve Francis
Kevin Dillon
Nicky Forster
Jamie Cureton
Glen Little
Bobby Convey
Graeme Murty
Sonko
Jim Leighton
Stuart Beavon

I think he knew that but was alluding to him being all conquering like the 2005/06 team.

Pardon me for being a heretic, but if Fozzy was that good, did I miss the Champions League final ?

Kevin Bremner, Top bloke and he stopped to talk to us at Wembley in 1988( Simod Cup) when he had already signed for Brighton.

Steve Richardson for always standing his round of beers in the old bar underneath the main stand at Elm Park in exchange for the American Football results.

Gary Westwood for giving me a lift home from the above bar in his Morris Marina :)

Gilkes
Senior
Hislop

If Kebe continues this for another year, he would replace Senior in my list.

Ever?
Would have to be Stanley Matthews - War time guest player - if allowed.

My understanding is that we also had a player - Foster, who scored three past Milan before being killed in WWI. Needs a mention.

Players I've seen:

Friday
Death
Sidwell

There was a player who came from Chelsea - Chamberlain? - who played a few games in the 80s and was head and shoulders above all the other players on the field with regards to talent before injury cut short his career.

Dixon
Hislop
need to be mentioned too.
