Harpers So Solid Crew I thought that the club ditched Sweet Caroline quite quickly.

Could really have become a RFC anthem.

Too bloody right.

So start a campaign. Write to the club.

Folks should stop moaning and DO something

PEARCEY It really is a myth that other teams hope support is frenzied compared with our own. I've been to plenty of other teams grounds and they are just as quiet as us if nothing much is happening on the pitch. It needs something on the pitch like a late tackle, goal, near miss etc to spark the crowd.

It's a classic psychological misunderstanding

AWAY fans are the most committed, most passionate fans (and noisiest)
and they are concentrated together, so it's easier to get chants going

Its easy to say our fans are embarrassing but it is quite evident we will never have a following like Leeds. Most would have known before the game that even 4,000 passionate Leeds fan would outsing us today.

That proved to be the case. Its a shame we do not have a chant we can make our own i am sure that would help. The Mcderm chant is shit but i have to say i think our fans have to be one of the most creative in their chant choices!

2 world wars, 1 world cup OUR SUPPORT IS F**KING SH*T.

Throw your toys out the pram all you like those who disagree, but you're wrong and I don't care if this thread p*sses you off.

East stand, you make the old Southbank chantstarters sick that you're allowed in the ground.

Not fit to wear the hoops. Not fit to sit in the East Stand. Not fit to call yourself Reading fans like the generations above you who sung at the tops of our voices to help lift the team from the depths of English football to where we are now.

If you think we are bad you should try going to Fulham, Chelsea or Wigan.

Could people please get over this issue. It's a football match not the X Factor.

Leeds were okay to be fair. Good numbers, they were pretty terrible in the second half.

We don't have the worst set of fans in the league. We're better than most teams.

How can you get inspired by such a dull performance? When the boys perform, we always get behind them. Our supporters were one of the best during our Premiership Years, both home and away.

Easier to be up for it on a big day, and all of those games were huge for us and came off the back of a massive celebration.

There's nothing wrong with our support that couldn't be sorted out with unreserved standing. It's no worse than the majority.

I thought it was good to see a relaxed level of stewarding in Y25/26 that allowed fans to choose whether to stand or not.

We outsang Norwich, Cardiff and most of the teams that have come down here.

It doesn't need anyone to write to the club to be fair. It simply needs the crowd to sing it and it will catch on - even if that takes a few weeks.

Part of me wants to say you a right. Unfortunatly with the introduction of plastic all seater ground, Planks for stewards and a new generation of "family friendly stadiums" I don't think it will ever be the same.

The part that says you're wrong is the fact that the young fans are now wrapped in cotton wool. They are not used to the terrace as it was, the loud atmosphere, the squashing and pushing, the sitting on each others shoulders to get a glimpse at the game. Now it's Seat each, family enclosures, cups of hot chocolate and a hot dog at half time. But they are still supporters of Reading FC. When their mates are supporting the Arsenals/Chelsea's/Man Uniteds or any prem league team for that matter, they are standing up in the playground saying they support their Local team. Not only does this go for the youngsters, this is throughout secondary school, uni, and inot work life. I'm am constantly surrounded by people "supporting" bigger clubs. And because I support my local team i'm different, but I am proud!

I make noise, I shout sing and have followed Reading up and down the ground. I know others that do too, some that sing, some that shout some that fight, but also some that just enjoy watching THEIR team, the place where they were born or live, they i'm sure Love the club the same as I do, just choose to show their support differently to me.

under the tin It cracks me up what some people get all worked up about.
Everybody knows that only the committed travel, we are no different, and are noisier away from home, the same as every other club.
Yesteday we hosted not a big club, but a truly monolithic one. I called into the Royal Albion for a couple, pre match. A minibus turned up, full of Leeds fans from South Wales. The old boy sat behind me on the 76 said in his berkshire burr that his boy was coming in from Caversham to see the game "He's a Leeds fan". The stadium was well populated with tourists, coming for no other reason than because who we were playing. There is no substitute in football for being able to say that we've been there, and done that. Most of Reading's history is synonymous with mediocrity, and that was highlighted yesterday, when they can sing their own famous football anthem, "marching all together", and the best that we can come back with is Blarmy (thump thump). In terms of vocal support, yesterday was the equivalent to Barton Rovers U9's vs Barcelona. It was always going to be that way. Deal with it.

Don't fret about it, we can have our moments. Wait for a fixture against the scum, Headington, etc.

Lastly, the thread title is out of order. Get the f*ck off of Long's back.

Arent they the same !!

Lets be honest though - there isn't as much passion for a club like Reading as most people have another team.

Atmosphere at the Bridge is ALOT better than the Mad Stad. Probably something to do with there not being many empty seats.

The atmosphere at Stamford Bridge is one of the worst I've ever seen, but then it can be a bit difficult to judge atmosphere from watching tv.

Been to a few games there in my time, as my mum's been a season ticket holder there for the best part of 20 years.

They weren't anything special in the 2 games we played there when we were in the premiership.
