If this is to be true then all we can do is give the lad our support and hope it turns out well for all concerned.

McD already said Austin wasn't because of his fee.

£300k for the top scorer in League One or £1.5m for the second top scorer.

Look at it like that in the simple form in which it is presented and it is a no brainer as to which one to try and sign......

Talk about toys out the pram from some about this.

In theory we're getting a player with Prem & Champ experience who is currently top scorer in League One, with rumours of Premier League interest, for at most a third the price some people want us to pay for someone who's scored fewer goals this season and has no champ or prem experience.

Ludicrous.

Good luck to him if he's coming here. He may not be tall, but personally I hope that's a sign that we're going to try and avoid playing crap percentage hoofball as much as we have been recently.

'greed. The only downside for me is that I'm a big fan of Church and it makes it less likely he'll play and come good.

Would be happy. He can also play the 'attacking midfielder' role that we do need.

It is called supply and demand.

Austin skillful "large" 6 foot 2 inch striker

W-P "small" 5 foot 6 inch striker.

The fact is that large skillful strikers are rarer than small poacher type strikers.

Peter Reid has just confirmed it, i quote 'there's been interest in him from a number of clubs but Reading agreed a fee las tnight and he's gone there today to discuss personal terms and do the medical which i expect no problems with so it's a blow to lose him'

BWP is in demand from a number of clubs so your theory does hold true. Plymouth have money problems and that will lower the price as they need to sell.

Stranded Personally think this is the best potential signing we could make this Jan (stiker wise) given that I think Austin is unrealistic given the asking price.

Spot on, Stranded. The lad needs to do some growing up regarding his off field mistermeaners, but if we can keep him fit he will continue to improve, and his form this season is very good.

I think i remember Reid saying he was happy with BWP's behaviour since joining Argyle and that experience and growing up a bit has really help him, and his football
