A very good window for a club of our side.

I see Manset is in the squad and Williams is being talked up. The future is bright.

Happy that we didnt sell anyone - there must be a fair few people with their eye on Long/kebe/Feds. Glad we brought in a striker without losing one of the others and who is also different to what we have. Have no probem in bringing in young players who will be the future of the team. So generally :)

I am reasonably happy with the month's business although it is a shame that we are still in a situation where our main objective in each window is to keep hold of what we already have and not really look for signings which are going to immediately improve the first team for the rest of the season with the exception of Manset if he can step up. I probably would have liked one more immediate first teamer but am happy to see us take a punt on a few for the future too. It is generally the way we have to go at the moment.

At least we haven't weakened the first team so it would appear to me at this stage we have gained Manset and lost no one from the first team squad. Morrison gives us a relatively inexpensive replacement for a more proven player moving on in the summer but he is going to have metaphorically big boots to fill, Williams, Gage and Opsahl are all more or less free rolls who are worth seeing if they can become serious first team players.

The jury is very much still out on our dealings but as we have spent relatively little in modern terms we only need one of the new signings to come good to have done decent business and two would be a bonus.

I'm happy that we've not lost anyone. Manset looks a good buy and should start against either Everton or Chelsea in the FAC Cup.

Along with Morrison, Brett Williams, Darren Caskey, Steve Death and Torres on loan (not the Spaniard, the curly haired gimp from Crawley)

So, over the course of the season:

Money in - £7,000,000

Money out - circa £700,000

Whoppee!

Brick by brick.

I heard he's quite tired of the Cup, though.

or that taking these figures in isolation, without looking at the rest of our outgoings/incomings, is a sensible thing to do etc etc

It's interesting that this is used as a criticism of the club. Many would see it as a reason to praise them.

But in an era where spending money to show ambition and to appease supporters can make Andy Carroll the 7th most expensive footballer ever, I suppose anything is possible.

That's a Snowballesque way of approaching this Schards.

Because obviously every penny of transfer income has to be spent on other players.

And it's whoopee.

Surely we could have got £15m off Newcastle for Long (or maybe Church). Hammond out!
