I hate: 'How shit must you be, we're winning away.' How self-denigrating is that? Where's all the 'Super Reading FC stuff' there used to be?

We copied it from Fulham who won out our place in 2008, for their first away win in 37 games.

We then copied it after a barren run of our own - fair enough - but why keep using it when we aren't bad away?


I think that's the source of a lot of complaint against the singing. There's just no thought to context, abotu whether the song makes sense or not. Why sing about teams bring crap support to the Madejski when we took far less to their place?


I don't think it's just us though. It's not as if all the fans singing "your town is a shithole" at our place have exactly singled us out.

Fans have always copied songs they've heard on tv etc, but the negative ones used to be a little more personal, and more effective because of it.

Even the "fire drill" one is getting over-used now. It works well when a late goal send loads streaming towards the exits. Rather pointless when about half a dozen people go.
