LoyalRoyalFan We've attracted attention - http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6842

Classical insult - We're a League One club. Never won anything. Simod Cup?

At the end of the day, we're in the playoffs and Derby are near the bottom.

At least Forest have won the European Cup, twice

LOL...an inter message board flame war with the fans of a team which was battling to avoid relegation, how charmingly retarded.

We've been up and have a chance to go back up again since they had a sniff. What would that make them then? I see they're quite proud of the Derbyshire Senior Cup where they unseated Matlock Town as title holders tho, as we made back to back FA Cup semis. Way to keep your sights set low, it makes being a couple steps below shite easier to take.

Royal Lady I think Clough jnr will be replaced pretty soon, possibly during the close season.

Paulo Souza was in the Upr West, approx 10 feet from me; a Derby fan sat behind him suggested to me that he was going to be Clough's replacement......

You just have to lol at Derby. They think they're a big club but the only reason they were ever successful was because of Brian Clough (cue the the only thing we're known for is Coppell brigade). They've won a grand total of 1 trophy since their heyday in the 70s and that was in 1987 (unless you consider an Anglo Italian cup in 92/93 as a major trophy). The only thing they're recognised for by people who don't live in the past is for being the worst team in history.

It's the same with Forest. Both were shite before Clough and they've both been shite since he left them. Derby are so desperate they even employed Clough's second rate son in hope that he can turn them around and so far he's failed miserably.

It's no wonder Disney tried to buy them a few years ago because their fans live in a fukking fantasy world. We might not have an illustrious history but at least we aren't deluded like those idiots.

It's ironic that this comes up after Savage was on 606 castigating a Sheff Wed fan for living in the past and disrespecting other clubs they consider smaller. Don't worry about them, who cares what they think of us? Let them live in their tiny monkey crashing cymbals minds and we'll carry on making history instead of living in the past.

I thought they were just having a laugh at an end of season game at which one of their leg-ends was playing their last ever game? They bought 1800 odd to a dead rubber and sang for 90 minutes - showing us up in the process? The "on the pitch" stuff was quite funny really, and only 2 (?) of them made it on....if they had tried harder there would have been more.

Sorry. Fuss about nothing.

Tbh, That ^. Derby fans were insistent, boring drones dressed as crayons. They were still a billion times better than the tedious shits who follow Reading. LOL @ any club where I am allowed to slag off all our crap players without even the remotest comeuppance.

There's no doubting their enthusiasm for the game, but the initial criticism of them was for their big time charlie attitude. As said, singing about us winning F all when they've done nothing since the time when the Bay City Rollers were chart regulars, and have a grand total of one cup win before that - decades before - is laughable.

The funny thing is, they probably think they are winding other teams up, not realising how much people are laughing at them. It makes them like the brummie Harry Enfield character who'd go round telling anyone "I'm considerably richer than you".

I remember a Forest fan being critical of his own team's fans singing about what they've won in relation to the opposition, by pointing out "it's football, not top trumps".

When it comes down to it, it's penis envy. Many treat their club's glories as a kind of dick waggling contest, and those who've successes have been overachievement have to try a bit more to compensate, and convince people they belong with the ..err.. big boys.

It was very flat from us yesterday, but the game was little more than a friendly. It meant nothing, and was actually more of a nuisance in terms of avoiding injuries and suspensions. It wasn't even an end of season party for us.

Not sure about that last line about clubs where you are allowed to slag off the players. Is there a club anywhere where that's not true?

I'd reckon you could take all the criticism of our own fans and post them on the boards of every club in the country, pretending to be a moan about that club's fans, and pretty much all of them would agree with you.

It's also quite amusing to note that such 'braggadocio' comes forward from living pretty humdrum and unsatisfying lives that need to be bolstered by such displays of semi-articulate nonsense. (Some Reading fans are as equally guilty of the same, especially when the club is doing well.)

You do get the odd set of fans who can and do exhibit a fine sense of humour - a balance of sarcasm and wit that comes off, and this rises and falls at clubs over the years.

However it should be remembered that a fair proportion of football fans are witless and almost terminally thick. When you factor in some ingrained boorishness and typically pack behaviour it's not entirely unsurprising to see it when it's exhibited en masse.

I'm not sure Derby are any worse than others.

They do have a very strange accent in Derby though. Even people from Leicester think they sound quite backward.

Anywhere where the menfolk address one another as 'duck' has to be slightly suspect; trophies, history or penis size notwithstanding.

I simply do not understand why Reading fans give two shits about what visiting fans think about either our fans or the club.

I'm afraid so many of our "fans" have this massive inferiority complex.
The chant about 106 was pathetic-as if the rest of the football world know anything about 106 other than Reading fans.
I thought it was a good turnout by a club that came close to relegation.
Surely it's good enough that Reading are doing so well for a little club (that is what we still are in English football terms) and we should just delight in that than worry about what away fans have to say.

On a similar note I felt a bit embarrassed about the big club stuff that some of our fans came out with at Stevenage,a club that has done brilliantly to get in the Div 2 play-offs in their first football league season.
Just remember where we were not so long ago and show a bit of modesty.
But for a wealthy owner we might have been competing with Stevenage in those play-offs.

Derby?
They do have a much more significant past in English foootball than us, and not just in the Clough era, and with their tremendous ongoing support especially at home will probably be back in the big time some time.

I agree Victor. We don't half come across as a bit prim and proper and at times bitter on here sometimes. Derby have had a crap season but still get more support than we could dream of.

I don't think many do.

The criticism towards Derby fans in this thread is more about how they view their club rather than how they view ours.

Who needs Derby fans to belittle our club when we are perfectly capable of doing so ourselves?

Can always rely on Derby for some entertainment. Their fans are truly hilarious.

PS, looking forward to the banter/same excuses that I've been hearing for the last 8 years or so, when I'm at work tomorrow.

Agreed - gone are the days when I went along and invaded the pitch at the Bescot, let off flares in the away end at Derby etc.

moo Leave it out. They were alright when we got relegated at Pride Park to be fair.

Mmmmm. Right. I don't suppose you're old enough to remember the first away game at Pride Park when we got promoted to the second tier and them lot were relegated from the top flight?

Do the words "you're only here to see the champions" mean anything to you? And not just that, their manager was very insulting about us, something along the lines of "when you see that you're playing against Reading for the first game, you know you've just been relegated" or something like that.

They might have beaten us 3-0 that day, but that white headed twat did a lot of diving during that game.

Yep, funny, since that " here to see the champions song" pretty sure we've finished above them every season since then including that one.
