Looks like he will be gone in a few weeks as the Blades are keen on him.

From today's Sheffield Star

SHEFFIELD United are set for further talks this week over securing a Bramall Lane future for left-back Marcus Williams.
The player is due to make the final appearance of his three-month loan spell from Reading on Saturday when the Blades take on Rochdale at Bramall Lane.
Preliminary discussions have been held over the prospect of Williams returning at some stage and the player, enjoying regular first-team football, would be keen to come.
United will now look to clarify the situation by speaking to Reading and it is understood he doesn’t figure in the plans of boss Brian McDermott.
It would mean, of course, a permanent deal being set up should United be able to proceed - and Blades boss Danny Wilson has indicated during Williams’ time here that he’d like to keep the speedy left-back.
“I think he has done well and he brings something a little bit different to the table for us,” he said.
Williams, who comes from Doncaster, made his debut in the home defeat by Huddersfield in mid-September and has made 14 appearances since, missing just a couple of games through injury.

Terminal Boardom Good luck to the lad. Shame it didn't happen down here but that is football. Has anyone considered that he may have struggled to settle in the area? The fact that he has returned north may speak volumes but then I don't expect most of the mongs on here would have the bandwidth to consider that as a reason.

Spot on..................................and LOL at Finerain who thinks 25 is too old for a player to make substantial improvements to his game :|

It may be something as simple as that he couldn't settle darn South, so moving back closer to family might be a good move.

It is, of course you can improve but not the levels of improvement he required.

Sarah Star As a free transfer that was worth a punt and didn't actually work out, it's fine.

Hear this care-free line trotted out quite a bit. You forget that transfer fee is one side of the coin; we've also tied up wages on Williams which would have been better used towards someone who would actually improve our team :|

Add to that, as a 'free transfer' his agent and he no doubt ensured that he got a very good signing on bonus.

Good job he's not playing soccer in the US then!! England isn't that big, footballers get more free time than most and can afford to drive very nice cars and put petrol into them!

Sheffield isn't even really the north. It's just the north Midlands.

I agree with the majority on here in wishing him all the best at a decent club (who we all hate becasue of warnock).
He was pleased as punch when he signed for us, but it didn't quite work out for him, for whatever reason.
I don't believe he wasn't/ isn't up to it, it's just not the right team/ manager etc. A bit like gregg halford.

ps, all the morons having a go at him only make up a very small minority of true rfc fans and would never have the guts to say stuff to his face.

It only took 180 mins (max) of him playing first 2 games last season to see he would never make it with us! He wasn't good enough glad to see both parties move on!
