Reilly, Doyle and Best don't count. Can't have played for ENG, SCO, WAL, NIR, ROI.

seahawk10 Peter Mate? Or do they actually have to appear to count?

Mate was good!

In his one game

Versus darlington

Where we conceded three goals (did Joachim score a hattrick?)

But I'm pretty sure Mate scored a header and then a penalty too

Yes, he has a 100% scoring record, and he actually scored with his hand 8)
I don't remember him taking a pen though? I know Bikey scored the winning pen...

Just checked and you're right, Mate didn't take one but Bikey (also on his competitative debut) scored the winning penalty.

Defence of Stack, Halls, Bikey, Mate and De La Cruz

I'd almost forgotten about this one. 3,820 turned up at Elm Park to see New Zealand beat us 2-1 that evening. Quoting the Evening Post clipping I found in the programme I still have, 'He arrogantly nutmegged a defender in the first half, had the cutest of curled free kicks tipped over in the second and was involved in an unseemly flare-up with Kiwi substitute Steve Wooddin in the very last minute.' Martin Peters also wore the Reading shirt for that game.

FWIW - ROI IS a foreign country. Has been for 90 years

Don't worry I'm well aware of that. I'm just repeating FFT's criteria for their magazine feature.
