have we had any official word on this yet? i saw the sky tweet but OS, beeb and sky proper are silent on the prognosis. i dont doubt now that it is broken but normally youd have some sort of prognosis by now no? or are his xrays caught up in the easter weekend nhs backlog?

I guess the only prognosis that matters is that if true his season has ended but hell be back for next season.

It's probably more a case of injury updates are not the club's priority for fans over the Easter weekend.

Checkout the pic on the OS. Michael Brown clearly got his eyes focused on the ball.

Tosser.

Royals midfielder Jem Karacan has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after he broke his ankle in our 2-0 home win over Leeds United.

Karacan was injured in a challenge by United midfielder Michael Brown not long before half time. The United player touched the ball first and no foul was given, but a trailing leg brought Jem to the ground and his ankle was broken in the process.

Our 23-year-old had also been on the end of a Danny Pugh tackle earlier that both Brian McDermott and Neil Warnock said was worthy of a red card.

Jem will now see a surgeon on Monday and will aim to return in pre-season this summer.

Manager Brian McDermott told readingfc.co.uk, "I'm really upset for Jem, some of the tackles did not belong in the game.

"I'm devastated for him, he's a really good guy and now we obviously all want to do well for him.

"He's played such a pivotal part for the team, now we are lucky to have other great people who can come in and will look to do well."

Physio Luke Anthony also told us, "Jem had an x-ray after the game which showed us he has fractured the tip of his medial malleoulus.

"Some ankle fractures are worse than others, Jem's is not too bad but still significant.

"There's also some soft tissue damage which in itself would be enough to rule him out for the season.

"The fracture adds to that but we will see the surgeon on Monday and go from there."

Our supporters can send Jem their best wishes on his Twitter account twitter.com/JemKaracan4

What would be great to see is a couple more photos following - Brown twists his hip with Jem's leg trapped and I have no doubt it is intentional.

If you have the game recorded on Sky+ (or whatever) take a look, he slides, gets the ball, collects Jem's leg and then twists his hips in a separate movement that is not due to the momentum of the tackle. I wish there was a way to prove it was intentional as I am certain he'd get a significant ban.
