A midweek evening game away at Huddersfield (before they moved to Odsal) - remember Leworthy playing so must've been ~ '90. Can't have been more than 40-50 of us there and it was bloody freezing so we kept singing to keep warm.

Did Huddersfield ever play at the Odsal? I thought it was Bradford City.

Yeah Bradford City played there for a few years after the fire at Valley Parade in 1985. Huddersfield went from Leeds Road straight to new ground.

Other than doing some away pre-season friendlies in the early 1980s (Gloucester, Witney x2- are a couple that spring to mind) I went to Hereford on a Tues or Wed evening in the late 1970s to witness a 0-0 draw. Memory slightly faded now, but as the one coachload entered the sparse terrace behind the goal the 50 hardy souls spread themselves into groups of 2-3 in a dimly lit Edgar Street and it felt like we has no support there.
Think that is probably the lowest away support I have been part of.

I drove down to that one on a whim. took a half day and jumped in the car with a mate. Got in the Hereford Social Club pre match which was good I seem to recall a few "lads" took a bit of interest in the few of us that were there.

My lowest attendance was a reserve league title decider at Gillingham about 7/8 years ago when I arranged a business meet to coincide with the game. There was one other Royal in attendance.

I remember turning up at Springfield Road (Wigan's old ground) with a mate on a tues/wed evening in (the winter of?) 1989. Branfoot had just been sacked (I think)and Dave Merrington was in temporary charge.

Had a few beers in a Rovers Return type pub (pleasant locals) and headed for the ground. On our way to the away end we were incongruously met by a copper on a horse(!) asking us where we were going. "The away end", we said. "The away end is closed (the turnstyles were actually boarded up!), but why do you want to go there anyway?", he replied. "We're Reading supporters" we retorted, to which he almost laughed his helmet off, stating that they were told the club (Wigan) weren't expecting any Reading supporters that night and that as an alternative, consequently we could go anywhere we liked in the ground so long as "we didn't make too much noise!".

To which we did and if memory serves, despite going 1-0 up after 5 minutes, got beat 3-1.

Was at that game - got in ground a bit late and Trevor Senior scored after intercepting a bad back pass as soon as I was in ground - we were dreadful after that and lost easily - think I stayed over somewhere in Preston. I was on terrace opposite away end for some reason and it looked like away end was closed

I do recall sitting on a grassy bank in Springfield Road.

Felt more like watching a cricket match than football.

Ahh...bliss was it in that dawn to be alive, But to be young was very Heaven!
I never went to away games (sorry, this makes it a bit off topic) when I was a total Reading fanatic - 8-11 years old but, I seem to remember, even a few home games (usually involved Southport for some reason) where the attendance was barely over 2,000. Workington also attracted few fans on a Tuesday night - it was a long way from Cumbria to Reading. I suppose the really astonishing thing is that anyone made the journey at all.

Was this one a 2-2 draw. ISTR Trevor Senior got the equaliser that night. More inflatables than fans on the terrace :D

When I was at Prospect School in the early 90s, for some reason myself and a mate decided to jump on the coach to Torquay for this:

Mark McGhee, the player manager hit me on the head with the ball during the warm-up. Twice. There were less than 100 Reading fans there. Maybe about 60 or 70.

I ended up stood right beside the players tunnel; we never seemed to do well at Springfield Road.

RFCMod Plymouth away in the late 90's on a Tuesday night in the replay of the FA Cup

Bournemouth away in the Autoglass Trophy

Too many small attendances away in the early 90's midweek

Was the Plymouth game the one where Neil Smith was sent off?

I had a feeling someone might remember it. Those balls were rock hard. Hurt like hell.

I quite enjoyed that game, mind.

I can't remember it might have been
It was bloody cold in December and all I remember was the only train we could get back was the first train in the morning and we got back to Plymouth station around 11ish and saw the train ready for the morning and thought we'd get on and at least get off the freezing platform, the b**tard guard had other ideas though and told us we'd have to wait on the platform for 5 hrs
And we lost

Mr Angry Crewe away on a Friday night in the late 1980's, at the start of the August Bank Holiday weekend; the coaches only got as far as Birmingham before being turned round due to the problems with all the holiday traffic, so the only attendees were independent travellers.

Certainly well under 40 away that night.

Ha ha! I was at that game. I had forgotten about that.

Also remember the 5-2 defeat at Barnsley, where the supporters coach turned up when we were 2-0 up!
