Petercccccc I love the fact everyone thinks newcastle will do well...i bet £100 that reading finish newcastle at the end of the season...any takers????

I'm interested. To clarify, you want to bet £100 that Reading will finish above Newcastle? So I'd get £100 if Newcastle finished above Reading and you'd get £100 if Reading finished above Newcastle?

I can remember a couple of seasons where people have said that West Ham had a strong squad and were too good to go down but both times they were relegated. Both times they've had a better squad than the one they've got now.

What's going on at Stoke? Why are people tipping them to go down - thought they were a half decent side these days.

Four seasons in midtable, hint of a downward trend in the last couple. It only takes one bad season and they're gone. Don't play particularly good football. Managers don't tend to last that long these days and Pulis has been there a while now. Someone often struggles having been alright the season before. That's my reasons for considering them anyway.

I think it will be a dog fight amongst the bookies favourites. Don't see an outside bet being drawn into it this year.

It will be between

Reading (Lack of creative midfield options other than freekicks)
Fulham (Off loaded massively, without any - so far - decent replacements)
West Brom (Too reliant on Odemwingie (who'll leave). Long will continue to disappoint)
Norwich (Second season syndrome)
Wigan (Only a matter of time with a dis-interested Owner and minus Moses)

Outside bet Sunderland. (Usual chaotic transfer dealings. How many out so far? 11?!)

West Ham will do well (and surprise). Heavy investment.
Southampton are still on the up. Lallana will get better and better (as will Lambert)
Swansea. Still have the nucleus of the team and will bore the opposition into defeat.
QPR. Invested and won't make the same mistake 2 years running.
Villa. Just can't see it.
Stoke. No one has yet sussed how to play against their physical in the air hoofball.

People like to go on about our lack of creativity and goals in central midfield. Have you seen Southampton? Man for man we are very similar, except our defence is better than theirs and Fox is better going forward than Harte (this is balanced by Harte being better at set pieces). They have very little creativity in midfield and rely on Cork and Schneiderlein (Davis will probably come in for Cork a lot of the time) to sit deep and shield the defence. Cork is good on the ball like Legs but not especially creative. Davis is no more creative than Guthrie.

Both teams have their creativity coming from the wide areas. I'd rather have our wide options than theirs, and I'd rather have Pog sticking the chances away than Lambert.

Lambert-Rodriguez is at least on a par with any of our striking combos IMO

I reckon

Norwich will get found out this season
Fulham ( i would put money on it)
Wigan

Think we will stay up, it might not look good to start with but we will grow stronger as the season goes on.
