Damn it. I really hope we make an effort for this guy, seems like a genuine talent.

Decent goal scoring record, decent achievements so far (e.g. African Cup of Nations - scored the winning penalty), defensive minded midfielder - which would be fantastic. Still relatively young, got some 'decent' experience behind him, amazing name and was once set to join the club ages ago.

Would be a quality signing.

I know we don't have a chance in hell, but, unfortunately, here's to hoping.

So the answer to our immediate need is to sign someone who won't play straight away?

Still, if he can bring the lessons of his "Art of War" with him it might help

Having been to Zambia I followed them through their ACN campaign back in January, watching all their games. The comms mentioned a number of times that he had trials at Reading, and tbf the guy was a very good CB, and kept Drogba quiet in the final. If we brought him in he wouldn't be a guarenteed starter but he could definetely come in and do a job.

So sign him up... but not just him.

@African_Soccer Says this about him:

'Great defender, one of the best in Africa. He is young (23) but he has already international experience thanks to AFCON win and, of course, playing for Mazembe in CAF Champions League top matches is good for him too. He surely deserves to play in Europe, don't matter where. Arsenal is huge club, at Reading he could settle in more easily. I'd choose Arsenal and be loaned out to Reading for the rest of the season. Why not? Let me add that is not just a centre back but he can play as a midfielder as well.'

I also asked him if Stoppila is better than Khumalo. He says that he thinks that Stoppila has played more high-level games than Khumalo so that should prepare him better for England. But he seems to suggest that Stoppila might take a while to get used to the prem.

Intriguing.

I've been keeping an eye on searches for his name on twitter. The most common comparison to him seems to be Yaya Toure...

Did you see the compilation video of him above Maffff?

Definitely better on the ball than Khumalo.

We're being played on this one..

Actually, I doubt we're even interested and he's just name-dropped a lower-PL team to scare Arsenal into putting an offer on the table

I think I said a page or two ago about us being a bartering tool. There's probably something to it, having trialled with us before, but if Arsenal want him then Arsenal will get him. Simple as that.
