Terminal Boardom Quite simple really but this is Hob Nob after all. Sign players that will make us a lot harder to beat. Stick to the tried and tested of last season and start nicking 1-0 wins.

Just FYI the tried and tested of last season saw us lose 7 PL games in a row and look a total shambles. Also tactics that work in the Championship, work a lot less well in the PL. As we've seen proved.

+1 to Ian Royal

If we had started off with the tactics against Man City/Swansea we would have been in a far prettier position... Look at Norwich they changed from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 in the first few games and they are "flying" now. We should have gone in the mentality of "we are not going to be beaten" unlike "we are gonna win this" attitude if we started off with the first one maybe the second would have followed. McDermott took to long to notice the obvious and we are in the shit because of it.

We need a CAM, Guthrie isn't it and if McDermott thinks he our long term CAM then oh god. He will do a job there but will not impress like a natural CAM would. So who do we look at? Personally don't have a name so relying on our scouts to do their job. I really hope we look more of European player than some BPL has been who is only attracted to us because we pay him a good retirement fund. I am very scared we are gonna do the latter because of McDermott's comments to the press.

Which is exactly what I meant when I stated what I did. Not surprised IR got the wrong end of the stick though. And don't expect the style of football to change mid season. Anyone who does is completely and utterly deluded.

I didn't get the wrong end of the stick, you said you wanted us to play like did last year. Which was 4-4-2 with two defensive midfielders and attacking wingers. You said doing that would keep it tight and score 1-0 wins. McDermott did this when things weren't going well and we lost 6 (not 7 sorry) games in a row, because you can't play that way successfully in the Prem with the squad we have.

This is because teams waltz through us. Because the opposition is so much better, they keep the ball better, win it easier, create chances better, score harder chances easier and defend better.

In order to keep it tight and win 1-0, we need to NOT play like last season. By playing five across the middle and one upfront, having a midfielder in the team who is better able to retain possession and use it in ways less likely to lose possession. Funnily enough, this is why we've gone from losing 6 in a row, to narrowly being beaten in injury time by the second best club in the country, drawing with Swansea, beating West Ham and getting nobbled by a very good Spurs side.

Clearly you have the right intent, but completely the wrong method.

i actually think the personell had alot more to do with it than the system.
we lost key players (kebe, karacan, guthrie, roberts) etc in key positions due to injury( and mental breakdown)
neither gunter or cummings had their heads right
pog ledge and mcanuff had slumps in form
gorkss lost it, and messed up the CB pairing and defensive set up

kebe karacan and guthie get back from injury
gunter gets his head right
we find a decent CB parthnership
pog gets his form back
we play 451

all of these things happened and imo the system wasnt the biggest factor, especially since we couldnt really play it with two fit CMs
