And another 6ft'er. I'm more than happy with this. some of our fans are unbelievably unrealistic. He's chosen to come here with relegation staring us in the face. Experienced, played in europe as well for Fulham, ROI euros etc. Big improvement in that problem position.

Some people are never happy! We sign Akpan and everyone says no ambition, doing it cheap again. Now it looks like we're close to signing a experienced Premier League player and still there's moaning. What did you expect? We're not going to attract brilliant players because of our position, just remember the difference Andy Griffin made when he came in.

Think he's out of contract at the end of the season as well, so shouldn't be too pricey.

Excellent signing. Arshavin to follow this could be our most exciting and fruitful window ever!

We actually haven't had too much problem getting the goals, its obvious that we needed to concentrate on the Defense.

May not be the signing many of us would hope would have come in as football fans, but that is the way of every Transfer Window at a club our size. Eternal optimism meets financial reality. Getting promoted doesn't automatically make us Man Utd.

Long term

If our dramatic survival push doesn't pan out as the optimists would hope, our back four will be really strong for next year's Championship push

Maybe some of the fans on here waiting for Welbeck and Lampard should get familiar with one of these.

How old is he?

What I'm getting at, is this a "now" signing or one for a few years to help our younger RBs develop?

Well that's good then. Potential to be playing for a good 3 or 4 years yet (at a high level)

Over on the "major signing" thread on page 2...

Big Foot If I was a betting man, I'd say we were to sign a RB.

Reserve judgement until i see him play. Hopefully they will get rid of Cummings and let Gunter and Kelly compete for the right back position

Brian is a deluded nobody if he cant see we need some creativity in the midfield though. Should have been our priority.
