Royal91 I will never forget that C U N T Riggot who munched him in the centre circle and put him out for 9months.

I just feel that was the demise of his footballing ability.

KITS=LEGEND!

A huge player for Reading and deserves to be up there with the best.

Yes he was outspoken but the fans could relate to it, either good or bad.

You could relate to a Shakespeare educated £20k a week player who moaned about £20k a week footballers and didn't want to train a couple of hours a day to earn his keep?

Apart from the Shakespeare but, can I knock around with you for a bit and help you spend your masses of easily earned cash?

Yes

No

Like it or lump it that is what modern day professional footballers are paid. In my role that I have now, which isn't £20k a week, there are certain aspects of the job that I will have a good old moan about. If someone offered me a huge payrise then would it stop me moaning, probably not.
Kitson came into football the harder way, he didn't have sports psychologists and nutritionists monitoring his every move from eleven years old. In the same light he would not have had such heavily routined training sessions or mixed with the top pro's who could put him on the right footing.

Maybe he shouldn't have been quite so public with his rants, but why not, is it just because he earns more than you and I?

leon Probably best Reading forward I've seen.

^^^This for me. Fantastic natural ability. Really seemed to care. Certainly not a bland cardboard cut out personality. Would rank right up there as one of my all time favourite Reading players.

Proper legend

I think he could also be a good manager in the future if he so desires to take that path

Kitson is one of my all time favourites. His vision, movement and link up play were sublime. And intelligent and articulate. Marred his reputation with drinkgate, but an absolute legend and still the best striker I've seen play for us, although Roberts pushes him despite being in the twilight of his career, just not a good enough goalscorer.

But for Riggott I honestly think he would have had a great chance of getting in the England squad.

I agree he's a great ex Reading player , but a " true legend " ?

What does that make Robin Friday , Martin Hicks , Trevor Senior et al ?

Good to hear Brian on the radio say what a lot of us thought-he felt there was a period when Kitson should have got an England call-up.
In my top 6 of all-time favourite Reading players and as the earlier poster said Riggot has got a lot to answer for.
