marcusopp Doubt it. McD prefers 4-4-2, but realised after half a dozen games that we can't play that formation with our squad in the premiership.

:? So why didn't he buy players to play 4-4-2?!

akranes £4m would be my price. Anything lower then we'll feel awful when he starts banging them in. Not too much money for WBA either.

I actually think he'll go for at least £5-6m

Fair enough. Only reason I feel 4m is because he just isn't in the same level as Shane Long.

Exactly, hence his lack of job now.
Guess he wanted to show faith in the guys who got us up, but they couldn't quite cut the mustard with our tactics from last year

True. He's consistently and historically a much better goalscorer. And despite being far from a regular starter this season, has already scored 10 Premier League goals. Something Long has done in neither this season, n.or last.

PMSL, why is anybody even debating this, when we're going to be given £30 million by Anton to strenghten the squad. It will come down to whether NA thinks he's a good enough player to fit into his system that will determine his fate.

But no doubt after last year at St Mary's he'll have some limited knowledge of his abilities, if not maybe he should aqaint himself with tihis:

This is slightly unfair. At the start of the season Reading were playing well. The Chelsea game was nearly won! With games lost because of handball and off-side goals allowed. A few "unlucky" games and moral is hit. Coppell operated a "mini-league" system of "winnable" games. Whereas McD wanted to win all games... Then he was a bit slow to change the system.
Not sure if the current owner is the best guy to buy players, as he seems to get along with Russian speaking players best....

I can't be bothered to ask, but it seems Alf is pretty cheesed off and prepared to leave. Hope not. That would be a massive loss in the Championship.

Apparently his interview with (I assume) BBCRB was very "disappointing". Anyone?

He could not have sounded more pissed off. Basically said they needed goals in the game and that's what he was there for, but he wasn't given the chance, that he wanted to play/start etc. That Nigel had said nothing to him during/after the game and implied that therefore he would rather be anywhere else right now. Off to Leeds with Brian? Feel really sorry for him as I'm sure Nigel's style of play would suit him better than the hoofball. Sad to lose him but seems inevitable now.

Thought that interview was very unprofessional by Alfie. Granted Dellor questioned him on it but Alfie should show more respect to the club that gave him a chance. I think his brief spell in January and England talk has made him think he's better than he is. He'll fail elsewhere in the Prem.

By all accounts he was very restrained and looked like he could've said worse.

Agreed. Thought Dellor was trying to get him to say something that he did not want to say. In fact the Dellor questioning of Adkins re the subs could have been a bit more forensic IMHO

Would be mad to leave, if he wants starts then he might get them next year with us, not with Bellamy FC.

Needs to get settled into a side, so if Adkins isn't seriously looking at starting him regularly next season, he'd be better off going.

I can see why he's not playing this season. He did alright on his own in that one game, but he really is the sort of player who'll work best in a partnership and we can't really afford the 4-4-2 that we'd need for him to do that. I really rate him and think he has got plenty about him for an all-round game. He's proved that he can score goals at any level. He just needs a decent run in the side, with the players around him confident and playing nice football.

He's missed a few sitters in his time here, but lets not forget he's our top scorer. Not only that but he shoots more per game than anyone else we have. Not bad considering he's often on the pitch for far shorter time. He's also pretty good at not losing the ball. And we've only five players with more assists than him. Three of them take set pieces.

He's not good enough for us and has had his few moments of success. Just get rid of him. If any team offers money as well that's a bonus. We're fukked if he starts for us next season.
