kieranwise95 I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

I'm dreaming dreams, I'm scheming schemes,
I'm building castles high.
They're born anew, their days are few,
Just like a sweet butterfly.
And as the daylight is dawning,
They come again in the morning!

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

When shadows creep, when I'm asleep,
To lands of hope I stray!
Then at daybreak, when I awake,
My bluebird flutters away.
Happiness, you seem so near me,
Happiness, come forth and cheer me!

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air
UNITED!!!! UNITED!!!!

Well we got someone in. To me it strikes of a lateral move, replacing Brian with Nigel, but I liked the job he did with Soton and he has shown he can get teams promoted and promoted to the PL. Results speak for themselves. Welcome to Reading FC Mr. Adkins...

Is Nigel bringing in his own coaching staff? What's happening with Eamonn?

Comes over to me as a prig, with the posture of a man recovering from penetration by a corn-on-the-cob. I don't expect to enjoy his smug interviews the way I enjoyed Uncle Fester's ever so umble ones. But this is all very subjective: like most schoolmaster types, he is probably reasonably genuine, just in an irritating way.

He's done well as a manager, no doubt about it. But I have to ask: if Brian failed in the prem for lack of funds, how come Adkins is thought better getting about three more points than Brian after spending a major load of dosh? Does not sound thought through. If we go down and Adkins gets us back up, Anton should seriously consider being ruthless and replacing him for the prem campaign.

Having said all that, I didn't like Pardew either, but he got us winning, so that didn't bother me. If Adders gets us winning, good luck to him. And, who knows, he might yet go up in my estimation as a bloke, too.

Onwards and downwards.

I'm frankly amazed by some comments. So at the time of Adkins departure his team was "only" 3 points clear of the relegation places? How many points clear of Reading was that at the time?

How many extra ppg had Saints gained? Answer .27ppg = 10 points in a season and Saints were improving.

But, anyway, it's not only about points. Saints looked like a Premiership outfit, played some lovely football. They had defensive issues early on and Adkins got on top of that. At the time he left he'd had just two defeats in 12 games.

RFC on the other hand have never looked REMOTELY like Premiership side. They have looked out of their depth, out-classed, out-thought, a Championship side.

The short purple patch in January was lucky. We caught Newcastle in disarray (and even so they should have scored a few first half) we somehow came back against WBA but only because they missed a shed load of great chances. Ditto the draw v Chelsea. Great that we got the points but we were not very good. We were better v a poor Sunderland team but after that the bubble burst and our record, especially against our relegation rivals has been appalling.

Snowball Saints looked like a Premiership outfit, played some lovely football.

They also spent like a Premiership outfit, something that we all became painfully aware of early on in the season.

McD failed on two counts in my opinion. Loyalty to certain players and the failure to spend what money was (apparently) given to him to do so in January.

If we had actually spent £30m plus in the summer, there is no way we would be in this current situation.

That may be all true. But Adkins had spent a lot more money. The question I am asking is, if Brian had had spent the same amount of money, would he have done as well as Adkins? It's an unknown, but considering how many people on here claim we have done badly because of poor investment, what difference would it have made having Adkins over McDermott? Last season, McDermott beat Adkins in the league, but Adkins spent much more money in the summer, and that arguably gave him the edge.

Still, if you are in favour of Adkins on a stats basis, that encourages me, because you are largely proved right in these matters. If the Snowball's in, I'm in.

Yeah, we've had some bad luck too, for example Newcastle at home.

First of all I'd like to welcome Adkins with open arms, as I think he will bring attractive football to our club, which has been missing for quite a while now. I hate to say it, but his style of play reminds me a tad of Coppell's, same ol' cliche I know, but still....far better than the shower of shit we've been watching the past 7+ months. I strongly believe Adkins will get our players playing the ball, passing and playing fluent football again, I strongly believe we have the squad capable of doing so. Will it be enough to keep us up, I doubt it, but at least there now is some faith we COULD do it. I can see us going down fighting.

I live in a Southampton catchment area, sick of Saints fans who I find the majority of them full of themselves. But, not one has a bad word to say about Adkins and are either pissed off he's gone to a 'tin pot club like Reading' or really wanting him to do well for us. The only thing I do hear some Saints fans say negatively is that he should of bought one, if not two defenders in the summer to bolster their defence.

We have so much to look forward to with Adkins. I honestly think the future looks bright(er) for us. Arsenal away aside, we are capable now of winning a few games, ironically Saints at home could now be our first win under Adkins, where I do not believe we would get jack shit if McDermott was still here.

Time to really get behind the manager and give the boys a good atmosphere!

Well done Anton, at least you had the balls to do what was right for Reading FC.

Nigel Adkins barmy army!

Not exactly overawed with excitement about this appointment but, as ever, will get behind him/the team. Southampton at home is gonna be tasty.
