Tanner makes a mockery of that level, just hope he physically develops because technically he's as good as any a prospect we've had

10 wins in a row for the u18's. Brilliant. Shame we couldn't win the league on the final day.

Can still win the competition, only two more games to win.. the mini-leagues are irrelevent really. Like topping your group at the world cup.

No mean feat to beat the likes of Chelsea and other top clubs.

The future is bright with these young players developing. Adkins will be aware and willing to take a punt.

Im not convinced yet. Ive only seen him play a couple of games mind but he didnt seem as involved in those matches as I was expecting.

But we will never know until he gets the chance, looking forward to a pre-season full of new names getting a chance to impress.

creative_username_1 tbf to McD i don't think there was ever a spell in his time at Reading when we weren't closing in on play-offs/auto/title/avoiding relegation. Not
exactly ideal times to blood young players.

Someone will no doubt point out a manager that has and was successful, i'll counter with another case where it didn't (or vice versa) we'll then
agree randomness plays a major part in every aspect of our life and that we are not really in control....i'll get the pints in!

Alex Ferguson: Beckham, Scholes, Neville Brothers, etc....

RoyalX I forgot that both Coppell and McDermott flat out refused to play youth players.

I've probably missed your point, but Coppell gave debuts to Long, Cox, Osano, Pearce, Karacan, Henry, Kelly, Sigurdsson and Church, and possibly others (Ben Hamer? Would you count Scott Golbourne or Adam Federici?). Long, Pearce and Karacan were all important members of the first team squad in Coppell's final season, earlier in Long's case, and Coppell played Simon Church up front in a play off semi final!

Adkins'll be off to City soon, they want a manager who puts focus on the youth.

Irrespective of the result, I am very impressed at the number of times AZ has been watching the youth teams. He is there again today. Must give them some sort of lift knowing that the owner has turned up to watch you.

'Greed. The guy is very passionate about all aspects of the club, which is good news for the future.

Maybe he'll sack himself like he did with the last guy who was "passionate" about the club.
