Platypuss :?

So what should Roberts have done/be doing differently?

Retired and replaced Lawrenson on MotD

TFF
FridaysGhost RFC are a great Pension whilst he is changing careers.

I thought you'd flounced off in a hissy :?

Anyway, RFC are still reaping the millions he earned the club in his first half season. Worth. Every. Penny.

Jason Roberts ‏@JasonRoberts30 4h
4th Promotion... 200th Goal....then I am going to walk off into the sunset like DJANGO..... #theDissilent

Pretty much confirmation that he'll retire at the end of the season, as if there was much doubt.

His hip wont take a run of games. He's 'hoping' to make a return but that seems very unlikely. We might get one appearance, then he has to face facts and retire. He knew this was the case 8-9 months ago but took the option of an additional year to fill his pockets one last time before moving into the media full-time. It was a clever move, though I'm not sure how please the club would have been when they would have known he was all but finished.

He's good to have around though, especially for the younger players

when you say 'around', tbm, are you talking about the training ground? because he didn't travel to back the boys again today. he's busy doing his own thing again instead.

He said on twitter that injured players don't travel, which makes sense

Not when they've got another job they can travel to.

that's rubbish because injured players have travelled in the past.

Only the players in the squad travel. Players who aren't picked, injured or not, don't travel. Typically players who are fit will train with the U21s on Saturday morning.

I would imagine Jason either had the day off or was in early to do some rehab before heading off to work for the BBC.

 @ people on Twitter like @ReadingFC_News pretending to know more about Jason Roberts' injury than he does.

Worst account ever.

Jordan Norris, someone I've got to know quite well, is a friend of Ady Williams, and he was adamant months ago that Roberts was finished and was advised his hip wouldn't allow him to make a full recovery. Having spoken to friends of his Jordan's, he's been reliable on several things and speaks to Ady on a regular basis. Of course Ady might be wrong, as I'm sure it's him providing the 'insider' information. I guess the proof is in the pudding. He'll either make a return and stay fit or he wont.

Well if Roberts isn't finished, his family seem to think otherwise. One of them tweeted him months ago when the news broke about his hip, and they said it was dreadful news and they were sorry it would end this way. The tweet then vanished within minutes.

We've got a lot to thank the guy for. I wish he had another season in him. Sadly I think he'll make a few appearances and then face facts before retiring next summer.

love the guy for what he did for us but if 1871 is referring to @Jordo79, he's a good guy and to my knowledge has been bang on a few times. he doesn't say where he gets his info from but he's always bantering with Adie, and one or two other old heads. he put it out there that robbo was advised he wouldn't make it back and he got a lot of stick for it as you do, but he's not the sort to just make something for the sake of it. as an aside, his sister is pretty fit too.
