AthleticoSpizz God help us next season if we were to win at Wembley.

Why? If we don't go up we'll be selling our best players. God help us in the Championship next season. It'll take us a few years to develop a team as good as what we have now.

If we do go up then we can hold on to what we have and hopefully attract a new owner quickly who is prepared to invest in the squad. It's our best chance for progress.

^^^^^^
These would be our "best players" who've blown hot and cold all season in what is a very very average league.
I really don't think a clear out of the highest earners would hurt us that much.
I'd go as far as to say that recycling Guthrie/Pogrebnyak's wages into the pockets of our up and coming players will give us a return on our investment in the longer term.
I'd certainly much prefer to see that than see us selling Obita to fund the bloated wages of Drenthe.

God help us unless we get new owners, whatever league we play in next season.

I too have got a strange feeling we might sneak up. As people have said, we have no expectation this time. We are in form away from home and the play off places contain two teams we have already beaten (its Wigan I'm worried about) and despite how frustrating we have been the teams below us seem to be even more inconsistent. Adkins has taken teams up via play offs before, and Reading have got to win one sometime!

Obviously if we don't learn from our mistakes again and spend very little we will come straight back down, but if we made 4 or 5 good signings and get rid of the deadwood etc. I have faith in our manager to keep us up. Some of our players could be a lot better in the PL on their second attempt. Perhaps I'm being too optimistic though as we can't forget some of the dross that's been served up this season.

Still, I'd rather be in the PL than the Championship, don't care what anyone says.

akranes I think we have a decent chance. Don't buy into HNA's trademark 100% pessimistic world end after we lose user base...
We have some players that can really shine, or do the complete opposite. Drenthe, Williams, Pogrebnyak, Le Fondre, McCleary maybe even McAnuff still have something special in them. As long as the players ACTUALLY turn up we have a chance.

.

Agree. In fact there are a fair few more that you can add to that talented list. If they all turn up and click for the three consecutive games that really count then we can do it. The concern is the lack of cover/quality in depth. Any injuries or players off form and Adkins has precious few other cards to play.

If we do , by a combination of fluke and a huge miracle, go up, Anton would probably come back and milk it for as long as he could and try and claim the credit.

In which case, I look forward to the battle of the Egos!

I'm at a loss. I feel there's something missing from this post but can't quite put my finger on it.

Play like we did against Bolton and we could do it. I would like QPR in the semi finals and then a final date with Derby. I honestly think on our day we could get through that challenge.

Like said before it's bleeding Wigan and their 15 fans that worries me

jellytot I am of the opposite opinion. We always screw up in the play offs and usually in comical ways. Personally feel we are certain to mess up again. If we get to the final I will bet on the other team winning to soften the blow.

Define usually?
Define comical?

Usually is wrong sorry actually we always fail in the play offs fact.
Comical = the final in Cardiff against Walsall a clearance hitting TR's backside and flying in our net.

Yeah. How we all laughed.......

Yeah we can watch Kaspars being run ragged again.. in fact that was the case all over the park. We would need to make 4 or 5 quality signings to have any chance of staying up. Our football is still far too slow and predictable. We concede too many silly goals and are not clinical enough. If we were to go up this season are we stronger than our last promotion? NO. I am abroad anyway, but if I were thinking of buying a season ticket I would want to see us SPEND on good players first. Who wants to spend that money watching drivel with relegation guaranteed again?
