paddy20 Should field our strongest side and try and pick up more points. Players are better for playing than resting.

a 90 minute game of football is pretty rigorous, add to that, the game on Monday has the potential to go on for 2hrs and to top it all off, by playing people on Saturday, we risk them getting injured or suspended for Monday.

League has no importance anymore, full rotation on Saturday.

North Somerset Royal
Colbster
Royality creeps In Don't mind them resting a few, but as I am going I would like to see the resemblance of a team so we are not too embarrassed.

This ^^^^^^

Yes, there's a balance to be struck. An horrendous 8-0
or something could do serious damage mentally, and,
if we did start losing a string of games (not that I think
that's likely) that 8-0 could return to haunt us GD-wise
on the last day.

Vision The burning issue here of course is whether this Watford game will actually count as a Steve Clarke game for future Snowball stats.

If he rests everyone then will it be considered more of a Martin Kuhl team?

Just like the game at Huddersfield when six were rested. I would have liked
to leave it out, but I have to think of the spike in blood pressure for all
you old farts. So this one. IF we field an almost unrecognisable side,
it stays in the stats, but will seriously distort them (just as did the Huddersfield game.)

Of course it counts against him, he's the manager who decides that he needs to rest half his team, even if it has a detrimental effect on the result.

How does that "count against him"?

So sacrificing a piece then winning a game of chess,
you'd focus on the lost piece? That's mental.

IF, he chooses a very weak side and if we get hammered (two IFs)
but then win Monday night, maybe even have a miracle v Arsenal
and get to the final, people will be full of praise.

If he rests just a few and we get unlucky, pick up an injury or two
then lose on Monday, he'll be slaughtered.

Whatever team he puts out Saturday, weak or strong, he may still lose both
on Saturday and Monday. Then the cry will be he should have kept a winning side
together for the momentum.

And worse case, we field a second 11, get beaten 5-6-7-8 nil, lose on the
Monday, fail to win another game (two bad defeats and the team loses heart)
then we go down on the last day due to bad GD.

Whatever, unless we get to Wembley, they are lining up to say SC was wrong
and they knew better.

What are you on about? You were talking about scrapping a loss from his record just because he willingly rested players, that would be ridiculous, no matter what team he plays against Watford, the result goes on his record and for the record I'd fully support him resting as many players as he needs to.

We've got previous for giving the kids a go at Watford.

So let's give Peter Castle and Darren Campbell another run out at Vicarage Road.

Maybe Also Ahmet Rifat.

Charles Watts ‏@charles_watts 1h1 hour ago
No Sweeney, Kuhl, Edwards, Stacey, Keown, Griffin, Long or Novakovich for the U21s today at Boro. Interesting. #readingfc

Already had a spiv on the RFC Facebook page claiming the team is an insult to the travelling fans.

It always intrigues me when we get a chance to see the youngsters however, If this goes to form and they get battered 5/6-0 it'd be hard to argue that the fans who traveled didn't get their money's worth.
