RG30 But how do we know the club aren't subsidising any of Drenthe's wages?

we might well be, it's quite common these days to pay a contribution to a departed players wages, and ferdinand might well be on big money we have no idea

According to an article I read by the Secret Footballer (I don't have the link anymore), unless a player asks for a transfer the club selling him have to pay up his contract in full. This is why it's very rare for a player to put in a transfer request, instead they get their agent to just tell clubs they want out and to make a bid.

genome Not Pog's fault. If your boss offered you the option, would you take it even though you deep down you don't think you'd really deserve it? Thought so. Blame Anton, not Pog.

No. Not if I was already on way more than I was worth and I was crippling the business. In fact I'd voluntarily take a pay cut.

This stinks of bull to me. I'm not convinced we were paying him that much in the PL. Drenthe stuff sounds toss too.

You might if you loved the club/company you played/worked for but if you worked for a company turning over 70m you'd probably would say "stuff 'em : their problem" and take the money - Like Roberts did the little shite. At least Pog (attempts) to play (occasionally)

Its quite clever from the club, putting this story out to the DM

Others will read it and not attempt to come in for our main striker, meaning he won't leave us but then on the flip side, when we don't sign any new players the club have a fall back to shift the blame on to "well we would have bought a new keeper and defender but paying Pog £55k a week has taken all our money"

Mr.Swainey
At the time, the club were splashing out millions under the ownership of Russian Anton Zingarevich

I stopped reading here.

:| clearly spent a lot, mainly in wages. just probably not of his own money

maffff The same one as told them we "spent big" (although technically... wages), that Drenthe is still on our books or that Ferdinand is a top earner, I guess.

didn't we spend more on transfer fees and wages in two transfer windows under him than we have ever done before?
not that it was on good players or anything

To be honest I'd be more surprised if player's contracts don't include annual pay rises as a standard demand.
If you've read Simon Jordan's book he gives a scary insight into the demands players (or rather their agents) make.

blueroyals Where are all the Pog apologists hiding?

The ones that strain themselves to remind everyone that he works so hard!!!!!!11 and is one of our best players so we shouldn't sell him? And that his hold up play is so good, it makes up for his abysmal goal scoring record...

The club need to get rid of him ASAP

I don't believe a word of it, but it's Zingarevich you should be slating for this, not Pog.

It doesn't necessarily follow you should sell someone who is not value for money, Pavel performs well and Reading are a better TEAM with him playing than without him. He is not VFM but that is not his fault, that is the fault of the last owner.

Obviously I'd like to see him move on because of his reported wages but not without their being an equal or better player in the squad and at the moment there isn't.
