LWJ 6 - 2

'Boro to go 3 -0 down within 20 minutes and pull 2 back either side of HT. John to come off the bench and score a hat-trick between 75-90 minutes.

If they score 2 either side of HT they will have 4 goals. So where are your missing goals to make it 6-4?

janesdaddy The match against Middlesbrough on the opening day of the 2006/07 season was my first live game at the MadStad (I'd just moved to Whitley  after living in the United States for 10 years). It was a fantastic match, where we came from 1-2 down to win 3-2, so I always enjoy it when we beat them. I think we will on Saturday, too, even if it's only by one goal. I think it'll be a 2-1 home win.

*came back from 2-0 down :D

Nameless Never too sure when this particular stat becomes valid.
Obviously when the sample size is small it's a self fulfilling thing. On day 1 the team at the top and bottom must have played each other and it's nothing to do with easy fixtures.
Also at This stage teams move positions quickly. So when we played Ipswich we were an 'easy' fixture, now we are a tough one.
I guess like with many stats treat with caution but take what you can. No doubt for the posters smarter than me the amount you can rely on this is obvious.

Agree, but I think it would be significant if one side had played the top eight
and another had played the bottom eight

There is ZERO chance of us keeping a clean sheet, with their attacking threats and us having Bond (Licence to spill) in goal!

However that being said we are flying at the moment, full of confidence and although Vydra and Quinn will be out the strength and depth of our current squad gives me a tingling sensation downstairs!

3-2 Win

Goals from Piazon, Sa and John.

I know this is a hostage to fortune, but...

They failed to score against Preston away, failed to score home to Bristol City (and lost),
only scored 1 versus Derby.

I think we are a little better than Preston/Derby and equal to or edging Derby.

This is a huge game, a huge test, no doubt and I can't say I have good vibes about it
but if we are genuine contenders these are the kind of sides we need to beat.

A clean sheet would be a start. Maybe Bond will have a blinder (has to happen eventually)
and we sneak home by a goal or a goal plus a late killer, and Boro fans go home crying,
saying they should have scored six

Love this especially the crying as they go home part!

Fingers crossed Bond comes good!

This has got 2-2 written all over it.

Therefore, i'm going for 1-0 to Sashimas men in blue and white.

He could've and should've done better for Derby's winner.

It's not that he made a clanger it is that he doesn't do enough to keep the ball out of the net, simple saves, catching for example, the lad tries to parry each shot out rather than catch them. Also he uses the wrong hand when reaching across his goal.

But I understand why you wish to remain nameless........

Bond is steadily improving, when he first joined he seemed terrified whenever he had the ball under pressure, he is a lot more composed now.

And Feds left his near post open, never came for crosses and had little communication with his centre backs.

Keepers these days generally parry the ball much more then they did in the past, it's to try and deal with the greater movement on the ball.
He's got a good record of goals conceded and very few would have been prevented by 'simple saves', I'm not convinced you are making a strong case by claiming he doesn't make 'simple saves'

And I'm not nameless.
Although I understand why you use a pseudonym rather than your real name.

I still think Bond was signed as our intended no2. That said we have what we have and he's a Reading player, he's our no.1 and while he plays we have to show him our support. I'm not 100% on him but I'll give the bloke my backing and time.
