No Fixed Abode

No Fixed Abode Does anyone remember that Bury cup game at Elm Park? I think Bury were winning 2-0 and the game was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch. Reading won the re-arranged game.

It might not have been the FA Cup though...

Yeah, was there mate. Can't remember seeing you though. Absolute deluge....they opened up the Southbank so that us Tilehurst End regulars could shelter from the rain. I have absolutely no idea why, but we remained behind the goals for the LOLs until the Ref called it off.

I was in the North Stand for that game. Right next to the handful of Bury fans that made the trip. You had to feel a bit sorry for them.

Pretty sure this was a league cup game as played I think early October

Ark Royal Really enjoyed the away tie at Man City in Jan 93. Goal from Scotty Taylor and we held on for 1-1. Cracking atmosphere in the away end. It was another step in the building process for Mark McGhee and the signs of a really good team were there.

yep decent long range effort from distance IIRC - we held out until quite near the end too.

Got to be Slough (A). Quite a few lads out that day.

Bryn's header at Man Utd is one of my favourite goals ever. Villa (H) can oxf*rd off, never been so annoyed.

Cardiff (H) at Elm Park for the LOL's.

Remember that. It was a classic - we won 1-0 though.

We're confusing games here possibly. I am referring to a 4 game marathon in the days of endless replays, 89/90. You might be referring to a more recent 1-0 win.

1976 beating Wealdstone 1-0 at EP, George Duck was their infamous talisman

Could be wrong, but I think RF got sent off.....droll grey winters day typical of the 1970's, and once again, Reading on the road to nowhere

Road to Division 4 :)

The Wealdstone game was my first ever FA Cup game. Can't remember any other fact about the game.

There was a Wealdstone game in around 88 when we won 2-0 and Vinny Jones got sent off for Wealdstone.

The Welling Utd 4 game marathon - I can clearly remember in the 1st or 2nd replay, Mark Whitlock rising like a salmon to meet a cross in front of the Tilehurst End with a huge grin on his face as he dreamt of glory. Sadly he headed it miles over the bar, and landed in a puddle.

That was the 85/86 season. Remember a massive ruck in the centre circle that involved nearly all of the outfield players.
