Le Fondre who appears to continually fail to hold down a first team place in any club he has been at in the championship.

Vydra - yes please. Class act.

This would be "Class act" Vydra with how many goals to justify starting in this season's Championship?

On this basis, every striker on our books must be a "Class act" :|

Hazard has scored how many goals this season for Chelsea? Class act?

Vydra 2 Championship goals this season, Le Fondre 12 Premiership goals 2012-13 in a relegated team, guess which one is a class act :|

Time to beam me up again, Scotty

I'd rather sign hello John permanently. He's the only creativeness we have in our squad.

Chelsea took a punt on Hector. Far far from the finished article in terms of playing at higher levels.

Vydra needs to fit the formation that McD adopts for next season. At the right price he'd make a good addition to the squad. Can't see much interest on this years performances. Seems to have a good relationship with McD something which influence the outcome. .

Didn't Watford sign him for £6m? That writes off us signing him permanently straight away. Not worth what they paid for him.

How many times has Le Fondre held down a clear first team place in a Championship team through out a season? It's none isn't it. How many times has Vydra done it? It's several isn't it.

Is there some reason cup goals count for nothing?

Is their some reason Premiership goals don't rank higher than those scored in the Championship ?

Are a strikers goals worth less when he comes off the bench to score?

In which parallel universe are 12 Premiership goals in one season scored mostly from the bench worth less than 2 in the Championship if the 2nd tier striker starts more matches?

Are there any normal people left in this place :|

Woodcote Royal Is their some reason Premiership goals don't rank higher than those scored in the Championship ?

I give you Hal Robson Kanu.

It is usually much easier to score goals in The Championship, and the
last time I looked the ratio was 2-3 to one for any given player, but Hal,
in 3 Championship seasons has yet to accumulate his single Premiership
season's tally

2012-13 7 Goals in 25 Appearances = 1,267 Minutes at 181 minutes per Goal (Premiership One Season)
2013-16 6 Goals in 89 Appearances = 5,353 Minutes at 896 minutes per goal (Championship the next 3 Seasons)

Championship Last Three Seasons Breakdown

2013-14 4 Goals in 36 Appearances = 1,713 Minutes Championship at 0,428 Minutes per Goal
2014-15 1 Goals in 29 Appearances = 2,098 Minutes Championship at 2,098 Minutes per Goal
2015-16 1 Goals in 24 Appearances = 1,542 Minutes Championship at 1,542 Minutes per Goal

Danny Graham scored 12 Premier League goals in 2011-12. Should we sign him?

I must say I agree with some of Woodcote's reasoning here, but I'd still take Vydra over ALF, he's younger and will get better.

'greed. He's a smashing player and I love watching his movement and general play but unless we can get him at a fraction of his quoted price then he's too much of a luxury. It's also not an outrageous point to suggest that just because he's got goals for Watford he'll get them for us. For whatever reason it may just not work out for him here however much of a class act he may be. In comparison to Alf, well Alf's not been a consistent scorer at this level for several seasons but it may be that back in a McD team he'll flourish in a way Vydra won't. Doesn't make Alf a better player per se , just better for us.

Not sure I go along with Vydra's "poor first touch" theory though. Just seems to me he tries to do everything first time and it doesn't always come off rather than simple miscontrol.

John Smith What were Watford doing differently to us the season Vydra was banging them in?

I think it was the fact that he was playing alongside Troy Deeney who is an excellent big target man striker. So Vydra wasn't burdened with all the pressure of being the main goal getter. Also Vydra is a number two and playing off a number one is better suited to Vydra's game.
I think also Watford were supplying their front two with decent service.

Compare that with Reading this season. Often there has been little service coming in from wide areas and from the midfield. We have placed too much pressure on Vydra treating him as our marquee summer signing and expecting him to be the main man banging in all the goals when he isn't a main man striker.

It looks like Brian is gradually improving the situation. He now has Kermorgant to play off. And with Brian starting to get the best out of Ola John and trying to get him fit and into the team there should be more service for the front two as we go forward.

Unfortunately we haven't had good consistency in our team this season with players getting injured at the wrong times. Ola is only now getting fit, but as Ola is fit, Vydra is now injured. I'm sure we'll get there eventually but by the time we do start getting there John will be back with Benfica and Vydra will be back at Watford and sent out on loan to Feyenoord or someone for next season.
