Top Flight Great point today lads. Getting closer to our 40 point survival target.

40?

And you have the temerity to question other people's footballing knowledge.

So the general consensus on here now is we're no longer a shambles and aren't getting relegated.

Thought that might happen.

Good, enjoyable game

Swift is an extremely intelligent footballer and a clear upgrade on what we've had the last few seasons. I suggest we enjoy him while we have him as he won't be here for long, bigger things await

McShane unreal finish for the goal and a great game all round

Kermorgant largely anonymous up top on his own bar a few moments of joy

Sidwell played well but a clear shadow of his former self

Bit disappointed Stam didn't make any changes sooner in the game

Liam Rosenior still a pr1ck, glad Yann smashed him - fair play. Referee's fault as he let a similar challenge from Rosenior on Kermorgant go unpunished earlier on, so set a precadent

Glad Norwood got some boos, he was bang average in one of our worst sides here in years. If he hadn't have scored that one screamer in injury time when the game was dead vs Ipswich last year, no one would care that he'd left

Hampshire Royal
Nameless Joey didn't get sent off for anything to do with his OG. His yellow was for a different incident.

If Joey wasn't booked for his moaning at the ref, what 'other incident' was it for? That was the first of two bookings which led to his sending off, by the way.

...from my seat high up the back of the N/ED stand I thought Joey got his first yellow for over-protesting at the asst refs bewildering blind-eying of Knockaert, playing Basketball right in front of him, to take the ball past vdB & Jordan.

Indeed. That was where the yellow came from.
I do agree that we need to quickly learn that the officials are clamping down on dissent by one team in each game. If we can spot when it is us they are targeting and shut up it will save lots of yellow cards. When it is our week to be allowed to moan then we can apply the pressure.

And Hampshire you may mean that Joey should avoid talking to officials generally, but that's not what you wrote.

As for the OG you may be right about the push. I went from being sure to being unconvinced and it's now too late to take another look. I doubt it will make any difference to the result either way.

Reading were at it just the same as Brighton but weren't as good at it.

Nobody has yet mentioned the two arm shove on Murrey when he rose for a header in the 6yd box first half. Clear penalty to Brighton that, but then the got lucky with the Joey incidents etc.

We really gave as good as we got: how very satisfying to see the team work together to get something out of one of our toughest games this season. Bring on the taffs.

Good game good result it's going to be a long season of transition but encouraging signs look very weak upfront

Refs have been utter shite this season. Should sort out the standard of refereeing before worrying about bad words

It's all gone quiet from the knee-jerk selecta :!:

As Stam said after both losses; can't wait for the next game.

It's going to be one heck of an entertaining season.

Are we in a transitional period following on from last season's transitional period which was following on from the transitional season that was 14/15?

You say that like it's unusual, but he had the highest yellows last season. They can't all be for him moaning.

We are because the owners keep making transitions.

They need to calm down now and stick for a bit.

True, but Clarke leaving wasn't just about results, and the impression I get with McDermott is that they didn't want him in the first place, and were just convinced by the old guard that he'd turn things round. Now they have their man in, they are much more likely to stick by him.

Really enjoyed yesterday.

The team is starting to realise when to keep the ball and keep possession and when clearing your lines is needed which is encouraging.

McCleary back to the McCleary of 2014, could be a massive player for us this season. As could Beerens who's looked good in all 3 home games this season.

Still a bit of a worry a the back and the arrival of Moore was much needed. Signing Blackett could be massive to either make Obita up his game or we have a replacement for him.

This team will only keep getting better and better.

Despite the lowish attendance I thought our fans were mostly decent yesterday.

If we keep up the strong tempo and don't lose many at home then hopefully the stay away fans will start to return.
