I think the comparison to the Premier League lower half is an unfair one, the top teams in the Championship are winning regularly, winning breeds confidence and confidence will give players greater impetus to play better football, take more risks and add to a greater level of cohesion.

Whereas the lower half Premier League sides are losing more often, often low in confidence and we've seen ourselves the last 2 seasons what dross a team low on confidence can dish up.

That said I would agree with the Championship being very strong this year.

For me, our teams should be built around

Moore, McShane, Evans, GMac and one of Kelly/Swift

Around them in a circle like this?

-----------------(Player)---------------(Player)----------------
---------------------------------Kelly-------------------------------
(Player)------Moore---McShane---Evans------(Player)
-----------------------------McCleary---------------------------
------------(Player)------------------------(Player)------------

As a person who doesn't like seeing players out of position (although if it works as it has recently, I don't mind), I'd have to play 2 wingers and at least one striker; with 4 at the back for sure. With this in mind, and with the fact that Stam doesn't seem to like 4-4-2, I'd have to say (With everyone fit);

http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=dx7v1

Al-Habsi
Gunter-Moore-McShane-Obita
VDB
McCleary-Swift-Kelly-Beerens
Grabban

Without Joey I'd put Williams in and push him up; or if needs be put Evans in the CDM role.

Gone with Grabban up front because he's a bit fresher than Kermorgant and I figure we may as well play him while we have him; or why bother signing him on loan? Although if we have 15-20 minutes left and are trying to hang on to a small lead I think definitely put Kermie on to deal with the aerial threat of the opposition.

That's the line-up I would pick. But realistically I imagine it'll look like this (with everyone fit):

http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=dx7v3

Al-Habsi
Gunter-Moore-McShane-Ilori-Obita
Williams-Kelly-Swift
Kermie-McCleary

Which to be fair is still a perfectly good line-up. I can't wait to see what Stam picks either way!

Sod it, complete guesswork with the new signings and assuming everyone is fit but:

..........................Al-Habsi
............McShane, Moore, Ilori
Watson*.............Evans............Obita
................Kelly...............Swift
................McCleary....Grabban

*tee hee, Gunter really, but with a phased replacement in favour of Watson.

As for next game:

........................Al-Habsi
...........Oxford, Moore, Blackett
Gunter..............Evans...............Obita
...............Kelly...............Mutch
..............McCleary....Grabban
