I’m underwhelmed, but not because I don’t like Clement or think he is ‘a specialist in failure’.......more because it is such a crucial appointment for the club and PC himself. He needs a decent run in a job after two percieved failures (with mitigating circumstances both times) and we obviously need to stay up and have a bit of long term stability here. So I’m being very cautious about the whole thing, as it has the potential to backfire spectacularly. However, I very much hope PC proves how good a manager he is with us.

I don't really buy into the whole " he's been sacked by Swansea and Derby therefore he must be sh1t" thing. After all we sacked Rodgers and he's gone on to be relatively successful at much bigger clubs than us.

The only thing that worries me a bit is his reported playing style. After suffering nearly two years of the worst football I have ever seen from a Reading team I really want something to get excited about!!

I’m not sure that winning everything with Celtic consitutes success.......TB2 won a trophy as Celtic boss.....Equally, beating us in a play-off final is hardly an achievement I’d agree about Clement being the best choice avaliable at the moment.......although MaccyD for a third stint would have been good for the lols!

It was more that the Stevie G slip that cost them. Their defence was awful.....if they hadn’t shipped goals for fun, they’d have won the league. I still see him as I did when he was our boss, a decent manager, within the right system/club, but nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. At times this year I felt Stam fell into the same trap, judging by his constant need to blame everyone else but himself.

Probably a 4 - 4.5 / 10 for me at the moment.

I see him as a little more 'Reading way' style manager (in how we've recruited him, and his background) than Jaap. The approach we play shouldn't be a shock for him and I'm pleased we're persevering on passing foundations, rather than kick and rush. If we eventually end up in a situation of crisp attacking football, built on quality passing that'll appease the fans. Although that doesn't seem to be Clement's style either.

It's either a good use of contacts or nepotism at its finest.

I'll believe it when I see it about youth integration, his track record belies his words.

I don't think it's a bad appointment, for how we tend to do things it seems a little steady. If a slightly less controversial (in hindsight) Steve Clarke. Although given the Martin murmurings, maybe controversial in itself.

Just hope he's learned from past failings (or perceived failings). If this fails it'll be hard for him to get beyond the 'good coach/assistant, not a manager' tag.

Hopefully he can get off to a flying start.

I'm cautiously optimistic. We will see a reaction form the players, if only to impress the new gaffer and try to win and maintain a first eleven berth. QPR game should be interesting. I think a win is highly probable.

I think he's a good appointment and he could potentially become a great appointment.

He was cutting his teeth at Derby and we'll never know if he'd have turned it around at Swansea if given more time.

We are not a club with big expectations, which might be a good thing and we could see some exciting signings in the summer.
