Jagermesiter1871HoundArmadillo Roadkill Controversially, I don’t think there is much wrong with either the technical ability or the work rate of the players. I think they are just in the habit of losing, have become used to misplaced passes, and are always taking the easy option. This started under Stam, and a change of manager has not arrested it.
(You could argue is started really goes all the way back to McDermott’s time in charge in the PL – he had limited players at his disposal so the fault is not all his but the club has arguably never really got back to the feeling that we are a club on the up that he (McDermott) manage to continue after the blip that was Rodgers).
But rather than just lash out at the manager or the recruitment team, I wonder if we have a sports psychologist. If we do, sack them ‘cause they’re sh1t and get a good one. If we haven’t, get a good one in as soon as possible.
Turning a team from a losing to a winning mentality is crucial thing now – we have the players we have and I can’t see any value in changing the manager.
(I will also admit Meyler is just unbelievable poor and Aluko, whilst not as bad as some would suggest, is still a massive waste of money).
+1 on all of that. We compete in every game. Where most average teams would claim a couple of wins from our performances, we bottle it and win zero
It’s a mental thing. We’re not a great technical side but mentally we are absolutely bottom of the table
We've lost every game this year by 1 goal.

Zip Clement’s interview was sobering. He sounded totally beaten. I really want him to succeed but I think this is going to end unhappily for him.

Little point in changing the manager. Hopefully the Chinese owners aspirations are long term. What we need is continuity. To rebuild the club. Personally I like Clement very open and speaks his mind. If his job is safe, come what may. Then the future will seem brighter.

notloyalenuffroyal My big complaint management wise was that Aluko and Meyler were so horrific in the first half that I could not believe one of them at least did not come off at half time.
The triple substitution was necessary and it really was nice to see a bit of fight for 20 minutes, but waiting until 60 minutes exactly was a bizarre decision. If they are crap, substitute them!
What on earth was Aluko doing in the first part of the 2nd half? When we were in possession he moved into the centre circle to receive the ball. Every time. For about 10 minutes. It was bizarre and left a huge hole down the right that Meite had to go and fill for Gunter to pass to. No problem with Meite making a run down the right, but I still don't know what Aluko was thinking. Or was this a Clement tactic? Very odd.

Totally agree, changing the manager every season hasn`t helped in the slightest as it since relegation from the PL. in fact it`s got worse, we really need to keep faith, I`m confident he`s the right man for the job.

Uh.. have you not seen Aluko play for us before? He does that every game...

Sadly I only get to about 5 or 6 games a season so I have only ever seen him be utterly useless passing the ball out of play on the wing. Today was my first opportunity to see him jog into the centre circle several times to have ago at kicking it out of play from there.
He has to be the one winger I have never enjoyed watching play at Reading.
There have been worse wingers, but at least they entertained me by trying hard or falling over a lot.
There is no merit in Sone Aluko.

Westwood52 TBF this was better than Bolton;at least they put in a shift ;unfortunately we were well down on any quality.
My one criticism of Clement is that playing 4-2-4 at this level is suicidal; unless you have two really good CM s which we don't have.
If you are going to pick Alukho; put him in the hole behind the front striker. We have had a season and a bit of him playing wide, and he has been hopeless. What's wrong with him ?
IMHO:
Mannone 5: Should probably got a hand to the first. I think Walker would have saved one of them, as he is such a big lump when spread.
Gunter 4: Typical Gunts performance; "not me sir !". Not one decent cross.
Viadom 5: To be honest , I was disappointed; he showed more drive (on the left); on Wednesday.
Ilori 6: Once again blew hot and cold. Some woeful passing.
Moore 6: Gave him a 6, because he scored the goal. But no leadership or organisation.
Meyler 3: TBF started OK; then after 20 minutes he got worse and worse. Until finally he was just a plain embarrassment. We have acquired a dud.
Bacuna 5: Probably summed up the overall performance. Worked hard, but next to no quality.
Meite 4: Worked hard, won his headers. But has the touch and technical ability of a brick wall.
Baldock 2: Oh dear.
Barrow 1: JUst abysmal. Way out of form.
Alukho 1: Barely a 1.Someone needs to sit down with him and find out whats wrong.
Kelly: Better than Wednesday, but inefectual.
Sims: Why ? We are asking a young kid, still learning his game. to drag us out of the mire. its unfair on him.
Mc Nulty: TBF, it wasnt all bad;just most of it.
Ref: Good 1st half and the 2nd half he was atrocious and began to lose control and his head.
Do I think we will go down ? Yes probably, but we are not a million miles away from being average.
